I need a little help in deciding which setting to get. The jeweler is calling today....please help, I'm like a kid in a candy store, it's driving me nuts! My diamond is: 2.6ct Round, platinum in size 6.

My favorite settings:
1. 3 stone with pear sides (darlingKristy's baby sister)
2. Basket, Pave knife edge
3. D.Vatche (plain comfort X prong setting)

I forgot to mention that this will be an engagement ring....I would like to wear the setting alone without a wedding band so I''m not concerned about the E-ring sitting flush with another band.
Thanks!

Ries, I vote for the baby KD

Especially as you plan to wear it solo at times. My second choice would be the basket and my last the Vatche, purely because I prefer a thinner band. Whatever you get with that rock you can't go wrong though

Thanks Lorelei - I appreciate your feedback, the baby KD would be so lovely it''s also the most expensive one so I really have to be sure. I''ll wait for a few more votes today - I''m so excited it''s difficult to sleep!

Well, this is tough, you''ve got 3 different looks going on here!

I have the DV X-Prong, I''m partial to thicker bands. So, that would get my vote. Simple, elegant, a perfect showcase for that VERY nice size stone. It''s very comfy, and I too wear mine alone.

Second choice would be the 3 stone, although this will cost more as you''ll need sidestones...

Third choice is the pave. Not that it''s not nice, it is. I''m just really picky about rings and bling.

thank Ellen, I appreciate your vote...it''s soooo hard to pick, it is for this very reason that I decided to get help from all the PS-gals!

Ries, if the baby KD is your favourite, then that is the one you should get! It is after all your e-ring and you will be wearing it forever. Especially with almost 3 carats you probably won't be thinking of upgrading, so if it is the one you love most then get it! As has been said before, a bit of extra expense now is well worth it to have what you truly want. All the settings are fabulous though!

It is true that I have a soft spot for the 3 stone - it is my no.1 pick. My boyfriend really splurged on the 2.6ct diamond and the agreement is that I would pay for the setting - it is for this reason that I have to think of a second choice for incase the 3 stone is out of my league. I''m waiting for Mark T. to call me this morning to let me know how much the 3 stone will cost but I can already guess that it will be at least $1000-2000 more than the other settings. Since we will be paying for our own wedding I have to be realistic as well...

Please keep up with the votes ladies - your opinion counts. Especially if you''ve seen any of the settings in person or have tried it on. Please let me know what''s great about them and what''s not to like...

Also, - I will not be able to see the setting in person prior to the purchase so I have to go by pics only.

Ries, if the 3 stone is really what you want, and it ends up being too much, I would consider this: Get the X-Prong in WG, that won''t be terribly expensive. Then, you could save and in a year or two, get the 3 stone ring.

i say definitely the 3 stone. if you''re sure you aren''t going to wear it with another band. i think you''ll get the most bang for your buck!! not that you need help with a 2.6!

Thanks! head scratching on this end....LOL!

Here''s a question....will a solitaire settings spin more than the 3 stone setting? Wish KD could charm in.

Also, do you guys think a 2.6ct would look as nice as KristyDarl 3.5ct. diamond? I sometimes think Leons settings on his website looks fabulous but it looks so different when the diamonds are smaller.

Hmm, not sure, since I''ve never worn a 3 stone. My guess would be, maybe a bit, because of weight? I''m sure someone who wears one will chime in.

I think you could have a stunning ring with that size stone. Trust me, 2.6 is no slouch!

I think a 2.6 would look fabulous. He''s got a picture of a 3 stone with a 1.5 round and pear sides on there and it''s still gorgeous and I think the pave setting you posted is *only* a 1.5 carat stone. Would Leon make it?

Yes - Mark T said that Leon would make the setting if I decided to do the 3 stone pear setting. He said that since they often work together, the setting could be made faster since he''ll buggggg him more often.

I think 2.6 is enough caratage for it to look as stunning as KD''s! I have a large solitaire which doesn''t spin luckily - I was wondering if maybe the sidestones might avoid spinning as the weight and extra width might ''centralize'' the diamonds more and keep it in place rather than the single large diamond, just wondering about weight distribution. However I am sure KD will chime in soon and let you know for sure as she has had her rock in both settings, the solitaire and the 3 stone.

Thanks - did you guys see the new post named: It happened? Sounds like it''s me in another life...ha ha ha

well, the pave ring and the 3 stones are two of my favorite's from Leon. They are both very different looks and I think either would be fabulous as a stand alone ring. have you tried on 3 stones with pear sides? I think that might help give you an idea if it's even a style you like on your hand.

LOL....only on PS would a 2.6ct RB be called a "baby"!!

Same here. For solo, the baby KD would be so nice and sparkly!

Looks like I''m going to have to give my wedding guests bread and water - ha ha ha!

Ries, as this is your e-ring, I think it is important to have what you truly want, even if it is a bit more expensive than you thought, if you can afford it why not? It isn't as if it is any other piece of jewellery where compromising isn't so important, my thinking is to get what you want if the Baby KD is what you love. Someone said on another post that spending a bit more in the scheme of things now would be worth it in the years to come and that stuck with me. Especially as that is such a beautemous rock, get the setting of your dreams if the BKD is it! The three settings are very different looks, maybe you are more of a 3 stone gal than a solitaire, but my thinking is with the BKD you get the best of all worlds! Hopefully KD herself will log in soon and give you her thoughts.

Just my 2 cents again, but I don't want to be a bad influence

Thanks again - I totally agree with you. I''m still waiting for Mark to arrive at the office. I told myself that maybe the posts from: "It happened" this morning, is a sign that I should get the 3 stone...LOL - anything to justify the more expensive setting....wink-wink!

hmm well i don''t really like options 2 and 3, so i say option 1!

but if you were thinking about putting it into the vatche royal crown as option 3 instead, i''d say go for that. i just love that setting, but i''m not a huge fan of the xprong.

i think that option 1 would be lovely, your stone is definitely large enough to carry it off. kaleigh''s ring is 2.3 center and it looks huge on her. also the pears add that extra coverage.

can''t wait to see the result!

I vote for the 3 stone if you can do it, Ries. I just love that look. When it comes to a solitaire, I prefer thinner bands as well. But the 3 stone has always been one of my favorites.

Can''t wait to see what you get!!!
