my heart feels for you. my beloved gato aged 22-23 years of age and my companion for 20 years passed april 17 with an assist from his vet. he had had health issues for 8 months so i had time to come to terms with it and plan for it. he was cremated april 18 and and his ashes are in an urn with me here at home. perhaps there is a catnip patch in the spirit world in which our kitties are frolicking together.

My heart goes out to you. Losing a pet is one of the most difficult things one can endure in life. Who else is there for us, every day, loves us unconditionally, and is faithful and loyal no matter what?

You did the right thing, as I believe that when it comes to the animal being in pain or in a severly compromised state, it is most kind--and humane--to put them to sleep.

And, theremost definitely IS a heaven for our pets; their souls and energies go back to that place in the universe where all is good, hopeful and loving.

You are in my thoughts.

Dear Idealrock,

I a new PS member from the U.K. I feel your pain only too well. Take heart, the liver is an incredible organ and cats are true fighters. I nursed our beloved Siamese through feline leukaemia when the prognosis was only a few weeks if we were lucky. You could literally watch the tumours spread through his lymphatic system and grow. With chemo, which he tolerated very well and lots of tlc he lived another 6 years!!!!!!!!

and died of an aneurism in the end. The hardest thing is to keep positive here, but you must literally try to be your pet''s cheerleader and encourage him through it. The vets must think they have a good chance of success with Pumpkin otherwise they wouldn''t be doing the surgery. Best of luck to you and Pumpkin, you are both in my thoughts and prayers. Keep strong, you both can get through this

I''m so sorry for your loss. I initially didn''t reply to this thread because it hit so close to home for me. We had the exact same thing hapen with our beloved Blaze kitty. I didn''t want to upset you with our results [exploratory surgery, tumors everywhere, better to not wake back up from surgery, etc.]. This happened over two years ago and I''m still not over it......

Please know that what you did was for the best and your precious kitty did not suffer needlessly. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Just remember they are always with you in spirit and that the soul cannot die. I wish I had read the later posts before I had sent the first one. So sorry for your loss.
