This is my first post here. I welcome everybody''s feedback on this stone. I found it on BN and purchased it through BGD with a custom setting. It should be delivered by next week. I love this site!

yes i have three images from him, ASET, IdealScope, and actual stone...

oops, actual stone here...

It looks like a beauty, see what you think when you get it!

i was little concerned at the strong blue fl at first but what exactly does that mean? does it mean the stone will have a bluish tint when looked at with the naked eye? is the strong blue affecting performance according to the ASET and IDEALSCOPE or can we not tell?

Looks gorgeous.

Strong Flor suggests that in bright sunlight or in black light the diamond will glow with a slight bluish tint.

Brian should/wouls have examined whether the flor affected the optics, did you ask him about this?

i recall him saying the SB did not affect it negatively and as a result i got a great deal on the stone...

Then it is all good.

In sunlight the diamond will not look white but will look blueish. A strong blue fluorescence is not a desirable trait.

Brian is a highly respected expert with diamonds, if he says that the SB fluorescence is not an issue, then it is not an issue. It is quite likely the fluorescence afforded you a discount and I look forward to hearing what you think when you see it!

For some people, it is. I love the lavender tint under direct sunlight and plan on getting strong blue fluorescence on my final RHR upgrade.

but regardless if it affected performance on the charts, there will still be a bluish tint when under bright sunlight, right?

You might notice a slight bluish hue but many enjoy that aspect of their diamonds, just depends on your preferences. SB fluorescence is only undesirable if YOU think it is. To me and many others here it isn't undesirable but it is a bonus! You can also see it under a blacklight if you have such a thing.

Correct. There will always be a strong blue tint in sunlight. GIA stated it was a strong blue.

"strong" is relative. In real life, "strong blue" is not all that blue.

Chrono with all due respect...isn''t the whole point of pricescope to give honest, accurate, factual information so that the average person becomes better informed to make a purchasing decision? Just because a lay person says that they love the blue-purple tint to their stone doesn''t mean that fluorescence is considered to be a desirable trait. Factually speaking fluorescence is not considered a desirable trait and in this case there is a strong blue fluorescence. I consider it to be better to tell the truth. And I would hope that people here will tell me the truth when I ask questions. I wouldn''t ask a question to be BSed. I assume the person wanted a honest answer. The worse thing would be to mislead this person to believe that a strong blue fluorescence was desirable. I''m sorry if my comment offended anyone who has a diamond with fluorescence. It was not my intention. I merely intended to tell the truth.

And why is it the truth that strong blue flour is bad? Before the 70s it was sought after, commands a high premium, after 70s it is not, just marketing and education.

Firestone,
I believe that years ago, strong blue fluorescence was a highly desired trait and were known as “blue white”. Today, while a colourless (DEF) diamond with strong blue fluorescence will have a slight discount, many people seek out strong blue fluorescence in lower coloured diamonds as it helps the diamond appear whiter under certain lighting conditions.

Chrono -- I am speaking of today''s standards not what might have been considered fashionable decades ago.

"Today, while a colourless (DEF) diamond with strong blue fluorescence will have a slight discount, many people seek out strong blue fluorescence in lower coloured diamonds as it helps the diamond appear whiter under certain lighting conditions."

Because white/colorless diamonds are considered to be most desirable. People are thinking that a little fluorescence will make their stone look more white in certain lighting. But the key is people want their stones to look white/colorless not blue.

Actually many enjoy the bluish glow some strongly fluorescent stones exhibit in some lighting conditions. Also SB fluorescent diamonds don't look blue all the time.

Ziggy, let us know what you think of the diamond when it arrives!

the finished ring with setting should be in my hands the following monday. i will update this thread hopefully with pics.
