Please send me some positive gem vibes...

Hey @VividRed, do you ever attend GemGenève? It's going on now through the 8th. I'd love to go some time. You should take the train in!

Woohoo! So glad the package is safe!!

I agree that these days we just have to sort of shrug and have faith USPS will get it there eventually… which is stressful to say the least. One of my packages a few weeks ago was marked as unscanned for days even though the seller swore she dropped it off, and then suddenly one day it crossed half the US in a matter of hours (with scans in four states!) and appeared in my mailbox that afternoon ‍♀️

I will say that these days I no longer order plants by mail, after a particularly unfortunate experience where the package went on two or three merry go rounds around the entire state over the course of a month. But that’s nothing compared to the stress of some acquaintances who have to order baby chicks by mail (apparently USPS is the only carrier in the country who will ship them). So many stories of opening up a late package and… yeah.

I remember years ago when i worked in a big garden centre down home some of our trees and shrubs came from thr North Island on the rail
More often than not all did not end well
you know would it have been so hard for someone to poke a hose through the shep cage and water them if they must unload them at some sidding in the middle of nowhere ?

Im glad its illegal here to post animals

It arrived? I'm so happy for you!

Thank you @Austina and @thirdrock for the well wishes! I agree... it seems the issue is more delays than losses. Phew.

The sprinkling of everyone's fairy gem dust must have worked, because the package was finally delivered to AGL! It was signed for, and I even received a message from Leslie that all of the stones were present and accounted for. What a relief! Ultimately, it was 2 weeks late. I'm just so pleased it wasn't lost or stolen, that I didn't even mind when they told me I was being charged double to test for copper in the paraiba. :oops2: (Why isn't that included in the original price?) Whatever!

I'm so happy for you!!! What a relief to know your gems are safe!!:appl::twirl:

That seems very cruel to mail a live animal. Imagine how horrid that must be for the bird! I wouldn't think this should even be legal.

I once had to get compost tiger worms sent to me
(They come in a cow pat)
They had to be couried not posted despite the worms being quite happy in the cow pat for a couple of weeks

I'm so glad you got your gems! Yay! but boo on postal services. And yes one can mail live animals to some degree. Considering what the mail is like these days I wouldn't even mail a live plant (I have had live plants sent to me via USP back in the day!)

I am a bit late here but thank goodness your gems arrived, @Autumn in New England. What a harrowing experience. I had a similarly bad experience — with Fedex — mailing a ruby that cost USD 24,000. Drove me up the wall. Now, i hope your gems will have a smooth journey back to you. I have shopped at AJS and Raregemstone co too. Antony Z is such a nice gentleman!

I'm glad your packaged arrived safely!

Just a PSA, if you all are sending high value items (like gemstone, jewelry, watches, art, designer purse, etc.) I highly recommend purchasing insurance for the time your item is in the mail system (including FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc) through a company called Ship and Insure. Its very straightforward, you insure your item for whatever amount you want, and that's the amount you get, no questions asked, if your item is lost, stolen or damaged in transit. You can also insure the item if its on your person while you travel too. The company knows all the big wigs at all the shipping companies so when your item goes missing in transit, they personally get on the phone to the higher-ups and get it sorted. They are also experts in knowing the right codes and tariffs for customs when shipping around the globe. I can't recommend them enough.
