Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this forum, but there seems to be a wealth of knowledge around here so I'm looking for some help.

I have been looking at cushions on several different sites, but am particularly drawn to this one. I know that many of you are much more knowledgable about what to look for, so I was wondering if anyone thought that this was a good choice, judging by the picture and report. I know that that's not enough to go by, so I requested an ASET image, which I should be receiving in the next few days.

The depth and fluorescence are two things that I am particularly unsure about. However, the stone is at the perfect pricepoint for us at $4K.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help :wavey:

A question first - what about it are you drawn to, exactly?

The fluorescence is good, in my opinion, nothing negative about it and it is a very interesting natural feature! You'll have to buy a little black light flashlight to be able to see it, though! I think we'll have to see the ASET, but it has some potential!

Thanks for the replies so far!

I'm looking for a cushion that is rectangular, doesn't really have that 'crushed ice' look, and is within our budget. This is my first time shopping for a diamond, so I guess that's all I was really drawn to with this one.

Thanks again for the suggestions, everyone.

My boyfriend went ahead and purchased this stone before we got the ASET image, but we just received the image today.

I'd be happy to hear what you all think of it. =)

The ASET is as expected. Let us know what you think when you get it, and post handshots in Show Me the Bling!

Update: We have just received the ring in the mail (!!!), but my boyfriend is not sure if he wants to show it to me before he proposes (completely understandable). So I will try to post a picture when I can!

However, I am still very curious about how you all thought the ASET looks, because I am not experienced in evaluating them. I would appreciate any honest opinions about it. Thank you!

not a fan of the ASET. the edges doesn't seem like they will have sharp definition to them. but you have to view it to see if it is acceptable to you

Thanks for the honest input!

I was able to look at the stone in person, and it looks nice to my untrained eyes, but I am still left wondering if it could sparkle more.

I have an urge to exchange it for another diamond that I have on hold that has the following ASET. It faces up almost exactly the same size.

Does this ASET look much better? Should I keep the stone I currently have? (maybe I'm just being too picky...)

I would exchange it. The one you have now is too crushed-ice for my taste.

Personally, I think it looks great! I wouldn't go down in size...but it's up to you...and honestly, this is YOUR RING! How you feel about the cut is up to YOU and you only!

Do you have a link to the page of the diamond in the second ASET?

OH, it is THE .86! I LOVE  that diamond!

Your ring looks beautiful. Diamond looks bright, too! :)

ASET doesn't look 'ideal'. Could use more red. But ASETs aren't everything.

I think you should really go with what's pleasing to your eyes. Do you love it? If it's not sparkly enough for you or you know of another stone that you KNOW is a better light performer, exchange it. If you love it though, don't let the ASET change your mind. Above all, you need to be happy with it. :))

+1!

I think the entire package looks very pretty. With that said, you have to decide if it is still mind clean enough for you knowing the aset could be better. I think nothing is wrong with your diamond (don't worry about the wowness in PS reactions ... We see so many awesome diamonds that I sometimes get desensitized). I just suggest you decide now and consider your options by seeing one more diamond to ease your mind. Once you are past your return period, it gets more difficult to deal with it and you could lose more money in the process.

I prefer more distinct facet patterning in my diamonds. The second ASET looks better and I suspect the diamond would look more lively. I suspect you would not be asking us if you did not perhaps want a different look?
