It looks like a scratch on the exterior of the stone. Or a natural.

Either way, If you can't see it with your naked eye it shouldn't matter.

It doesn't count since you cannot see it without a loupe.

I very much doubt this is it but that's what a laser drill hole can look like. I can't see that it reaches the surface in any event.

So LD, it does not look like a surface scratch to you, but something within the stone?

I have absolutely no idea. From the photo you can't tell whether it's a surface scratch or an inclusion within the stone.

The only reason I commented about the laser drill is that this is actually what they look like (but of course you would see an area where it entered the gemstone) and typically the gemstone would have had some clarity issues.

Without even knowing what this gemstone was when sold I've got no clue whether it's real or synthetic.

Got it, thanks. I thought there was some clue that you in your vast knowledge were seeing and could teach us. :praise:

Could be bits of rutile or curved striae of a flame fusion ruby, but that's just my guess. The fact that it is incredibly clean when louped raises my suspicion.

Tariq you need to get that stone checked professionally. I don't think any of us want to ID what it could/couldn't be. The specs on the stone could be dust OR they could be a suggestion of a synthetic.
