Pls help me set this 1.52ct FY cushion

My hubby bought me this gorgeous 1.52ct cushion for our 12th wedding anniv. It's not certified but am not worried cos it's an absolute beauty and didn't cost much. The colour is quite rich, it could be FY or LFY, either way I'm fine with it. The cut is soft pillowy and it's absolutely eye-clean.

I'd like to have it set as a RHR, perhaps with both a bezel and a halo, something to really showcase its beauty and make it look more substantial (you know me, I like my jewellery bigger

).

Unfortunately, I'm still having trouble posting pics on my PC but will try and do so asap.

Any setting suggestions would be much appreciated, and pics would def be more than welcome.

Can you afford side stones?

I recommend a haloed centre stone with half moons as side stones which are also haloed! BLINGTASTIC

Not sure yet if I want sidestones but that''s a good idea!

I would use normal diamonds for the centre stone halo, not brown!

ETA: the cushion in the pic is actually a 1.5 ct... what a coincidence hey?

Is that from DBL?

I swear to God I was looking at EXACTLY the same ring just before your post came through!! and saying to myself: "Hey, what's my diamond doing on David's website?!!"

. It looks just like mine, same shape, same carat weight, even the same measurements, i'd say. The only difference I think is that mine is a softer yellow, not so intense like David's.

I have a great idea for making it look bigger. My husband upgraded my yellow diamond last year and the setting really makes it look much bigger. It has a double halo. The halo closest to the yellow diamond has yellow diamonds. The second halo is white diamonds and so are the diamonds along the shank. The yellow halo really makes the center stone look so much bigger! Like you - I like my rings big!

Sorry this one is blurry - I was trying to get a picture that shows how one of the rows in the split shank goes under the yellow diamond. It is a really unique setting and we just fell in love with it!

I like some sort of side stones with a haloed yellow stone like trapazoids or baguettes or half moons. Also, they should all be white to really off-set the yellow center stone.

I think that this is such an excellent idea to set the stone, but I''m a bit worried about the cost. Could you possibly tell me whether the cost of your setting exceeded say, US$2-3k? You don''t have to tell me the exact cost of course. The thing is we didn''t pay a lot of money for my FY stone and it''s going to be a fun RHR, so I don''t want to spend too much on the setting. My jeweller has quoted me approx $USD2k for the bezel setting plus one row of white melee. I''m not sure how much more another row in yellow melee would cost.

I'll need to go try on side stones to see how they are on my hands. I LOVE the setting on your GORGEOUS FY stone (btw, yours is def one of my fave FY rings around here

). It's also a lot bigger than my teeny tiny 1.52ct! Do you think such sidestones would enhance the centre stones (like they do yours) or would they dwarf my teeny stone instead?

I''m not really sure what the setting would cost because we found the ring already set - so I don''t know how much the center stone vs. the whole ring cost.

Not sure if this will help or not, but I pulled my appraisal and the FY diamonds in the halo total .26 carats and the total weight of the white diamond halo and shank total .57 carats - all G-H color and VS2 clarity.

So maybe the price won''t be too bad after all! If you call your jeweler and they are able to give you a price, I''d be curious to know what the price is!

Thank you! The yellow halo really does make a huge difference in the look of the size of the center stone. It actually dwarfed my 4.19 RB wedding ring that was set with a micropave halo with smaller stones - which I have since reset with a larger halo!

I also thought the setting was pretty unique and fell in love with it immediately. I was waiting for my husband to say "take it off because you''re not getting it" and was surprised that he loved it so much he decided to buy it for me!

I would do this. But with two tone. The bezel around the actual stone with the two rows of milgrain should be yellow gold. The outside halo white. Then I'd do the two diamond shaped DBY bezels (not the single one right above the drop) in yellow gold with yellow diamond melee. And the rest of the DBY all the way up alternating yellow and white.
