I like the top middle black velvet, and the black laquer on the top left. I don't like the BG boxes, and I really dislike the red wood boxes with the white interior because I don't think it shows off the ring as well as the black. I technically like the BG box on the top right, but I think a box with two piece is going to be awkward to use for a proposal. I'd go with any of the hinged black ones.
Well, maybe it was not to be.... It will all work out.I'm such a friggin moron. The ring doesn't fit in this lit box because the ring is too tall. AAaaarrrghghhghhh....
I personally LOVE surprises, but does she? If so, yes, I would try to catch her off guard (if not, scratch). And since the box size is not a problem, I think giving her the one with the ribbon will just help build the suspense. Besides, what girl doesn't like unwrapping a gift!?Thanks for the feedback everyone! I honestly wasn't expecting the 12 o'clock to come out ahead (so far... I know the sample size isn't statistically significant yet).
Luckily this isn't so much a surprise engagement as it is just a build up... so I can still go with a fairly large box and not feel like I'm smuggling something haha.
Maybe it's more fun to surprise her when she's not expecting it? Should I have to think about how to plan something more clever?

Ill be the odd one out here as I actually like the cardboard box ..with the gorgeous setting and sparkly halo I think the plain box would actually highlight the ring a lot more than a fancier box . But otherwise I definitely think a black velvet interior in any box looks better than a lighter coloured one against the ring.
I just made this box... (yes, I am bored at work)
I think I'll carry this around in my pocket for a few weeks. Only the finest FedEx Express materials and bubble wrap.
I tried to have the box lid end up with the facets like the Black by Brian Gavin box... and failed miserably. I think I understand why Brian likes the design of that box so much... it's surprisingly hard to create those angles. Especially difficult using a FedEx box and envelope.
