12 o clock, I'm a super traditionalist. That's the classic proposal look... the shiny wood boxes remind me of coffins. :eek2:

Black velvet!
2nd comes the BGD top right with the ribbon, but it will be more ‘complicated for the proposal

I like the top middle black velvet, and the black laquer on the top left. I don't like the BG boxes, and I really dislike the red wood boxes with the white interior because I don't think it shows off the ring as well as the black. I technically like the BG box on the top right, but I think a box with two piece is going to be awkward to use for a proposal. I'd go with any of the hinged black ones.

I agree!

Also I LOVE all the thought you’re putting into this! Your beloved will feel very special, indeed :)

I voted for the classic black velvet box, but my second choice would be the Signature Box as it looks luxe to me as well. The wooden boxes look a little old-fashioned to me. While the BGD Black doesn’t look like a traditional proposal box, I really like that it tilts up. Am I seeing it right? Love how it displays the ring to the recipient.

Definitely consider the fact you will be stuffing a box in your pocket.

I'm a big guy and consequently have big pockets. It was tough shoving that box I snapped a pic of into my pocket without it being uncomfortable and without constantly turning my body to shield views and trying to cover the bulge.

In before someone says wooden boxes look like coffins.

I was torn between the 12 and 2 o'clock ones since the one with the light (so cool!) isn't going to work. I end up voting for the Brian Gavin Signature because I think it is super classy.

So many choices....hahaha! I really prefer the black wooden box with black interior. The BG signature box (what I have) looks cool but is quite bulky, and since it pushes out easily from the side, you really need the ribbon, too. I think that's a little messy. The red wooden box is okay, but I dislike the white interior. Somehow, it reminds me of 80s prom cummerbunds. :lol-2: . Other 3, I don't care for at all. Good luck deciding!

I have a black box with the light, and it literally lights up the diamond and creates a wow when you open it.

Love idea of light but if it doesn’t work all black velvet is great too.

Black fuzzy velvet box is my vote. But you have lots of good choices and all the thought and prep you put into this is what makes the whole proposal truly priceless.:kiss2:

Good luck and please come back with lots of photos.:appl:

I'm such a friggin moron. The ring doesn't fit in this lit box because the ring is too tall. AAaaarrrghghhghhh....
Well, maybe it was not to be.... It will all work out. :wink2:

If 6 o'clock won't work then 12 o'clock is just as fancy! Less blingy but more classy!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I honestly wasn't expecting the 12 o'clock to come out ahead (so far... I know the sample size isn't statistically significant yet).

Luckily this isn't so much a surprise engagement as it is just a build up... so I can still go with a fairly large box and not feel like I'm smuggling something haha.

Maybe it's more fun to surprise her when she's not expecting it? Should I have to think about how to plan something more clever?

I personally LOVE surprises, but does she? If so, yes, I would try to catch her off guard (if not, scratch). And since the box size is not a problem, I think giving her the one with the ribbon will just help build the suspense. Besides, what girl doesn't like unwrapping a gift!? ::)

I cannot vote, because there is no “other” option. I would say any one box will do, because what is important is the content.

Big cardboard box... with newspaper. then pack in the fedex box. put one of the boxes in it without the ring, then some news paper. Pack it LOOSLY. Once she unpacks in and opens that box, tell her maybe it dropped on the ground and ask her help looking for it.

In the meantime, use another box for the ring in your pocket. Then spring it on her. She won't be expecting that mess right?:mrgreen2::lol-2:

Ill be the odd one out here as I actually like the cardboard box :D..with the gorgeous setting and sparkly halo I think the plain box would actually highlight the ring a lot more than a fancier box . But otherwise I definitely think a black velvet interior in any box looks better than a lighter coloured one against the ring.

Don't worry, Lesley @ Brian Gavin said it'd be funny to make this one :)

I have 6 boxes to pick from for my upcoming proposal... Well a 7th if I just recycle the FedEx box that the ring shipped in.

I don't have pictures of the ring with each box, but it's this one... setting is platinum.

I actually see what you mean by the design of the BG black line box. That box is incredibly dissapointing for their top line. I respect that it reflects his vision of the line, but I just don’t get it, especially compared with the signature line. Sounds as though Lesley is open to soliciting feedback and changing it.

I love this idea. Plan some kind of scheme for her to unwrap the Signature Box with the ribbon, lift the top but there is no ring there, just a rolled up strip of paper. As she reads the message, then you whip out the classic black velvet box from your pocket with the actual ring.

I originally voted for the one with the light but when I saw the photo of the ring inside it I changed my mind. I like the black velvet one, followed by one of the wooden ones.

I just made this box... (yes, I am bored at work)

I think I'll carry this around in my pocket for a few weeks. Only the finest FedEx Express materials and bubble wrap.

I tried to have the box lid end up with the facets like the Black by Brian Gavin box... and failed miserably. I think I understand why Brian likes the design of that box so much... it's surprisingly hard to create those angles. Especially difficult using a FedEx box and envelope.

That right there is some determination:mrgreen2:

I see you're quite clever with your arts and crafts
She's probably not even going to notice the box until some time later after she comes down from cloud 9.

It shouldn't have to be a super super speshl proposal. That trend is ridiculous, aren't its 15 minutes up yet? Some meaningful words straight from the heart in a private place should suffice.
