So, the MA tax-free weekend is coming up. There are two Cartier necklaces which would match my Cartier rings, and price-wise they are within $100 of each other.

The burning question is: Do I get a white gold Cartier Entrelaces necklace to match my white gold Entrelaces ring, or do I get a Trinity necklace to match my Trinity ring? And no, Enerchi, I can't get both!

The Entrelaces has been discontinued and is not on the website in white gold. The picture below shows it in yellow gold, on the far right. However, the Boston store has the white gold one, which matches my ring.

Trinity:

Thoughts?

Ha ha ha!! As IF I'd suggest getting both.... :Up_to_something:

Trinity - always a timeless classic.

+1

I love the Trinity!

I vote Trinity because you can wear it with both rings as it has both colours of gold in it.

Actually I think you could wear both necklaces with either ring for a non matchy but still "goes together" look

Trinity is a signature Cartier design and will long outlast the other, in my opinion. That would be my choice!

I chose the Entrelaces necklace as I prefer its simplicity - I also like that you'd get in white gold.
However, if the Trinity necklace came with a white gold chain rather than pink gold, I might have decided otherwise.

Hi Smith! :wavey:
I am going to be the devil's advocate on this happy necklace conundrum..
I happen to like matched sets and I would buy a necklace to exactly match my ring.. also I think you can make your own Trinity necklace by stringing Trinity ring onto a gold chain. Just my 2cents!
Now on a selfish note.. I love the entrelaces ring! Does your store in Boston have any for the GREAT price that you paid in size 47?
I forgot what you said the name of the store was..
Thanks for letting me know if you can.
The nice thing about the necklace decision is that either way you decide it's all good!!

The entrelaces is, to me, a trendier look. In fact, it looks like a trend straight out of the 80's! :wink2:

When I say the Boston store, I meant the Boston Cartier store. They have the Entrelaces rings and necklaces still, although you can't get them on the website anymore.

But if you mean E.B. Horn in Boston, they don't carry Cartier. The Cartier ring was an estate piece that someone had brought in to sell, so it was a one-off.

I'm wondering if I should grab an Entrelaces necklace since they've been discontinued. Cartier in Boston is kindly holding one for me. I guess I can get the other one any time.

Yes, I think the yellow gold looks very Eighties, but not the white gold. The website isn't selling it anymore so I couldn't find a picture.

Something different entirely. Why be matchy-matchy?

Hi Smith!
Ahh.. EB Horn was the name of the store I was trying to remember. I will check out their website to see what they have available in estate jewelry. I am also going to put in a saved search on Ebay for it as well.
How cool that there is a "no tax" week.. I have never heard of that except for clothing. What a clever time to buy a piece at Cartier. :appl:
Whichever you pick is a great choice!

I love the trinity! I know the other would give you a set though. I think the trinity has a bit more presence and is a more classic piece. But if you are looking for or would be more comfortable with an understated piece, then the Entelaces piece would be perfect.

I like both, but I would go with the Trinity!

Ooooohhhh!!! Trinity!

I would go for the Entrelace necklace, since it will soon be discontinued. You might regret not getting it when it is no longer available.

Trinity! It's such a classic line.

Thanks for the advice, everyone! These are indeed happy conundrums, aren't they. Much better than worrying about things!

I could get the Trinity at Heathrow airport at the end of December. I'd save about $150 off the pre-tax price and about $240 off the taxed price. But that assumes no price rises in the next five months and that the exchange rate stays favourable.

Decodelighted: I never thought I'd have a matched set of, well, anything at Cartier! That's why I was wondering about getting one of these two instead of something else.

luv and marymm - yes, I quite like the fact that the Entrelaces is an in-the-know piece and very understated. It's like my DeBeers necklace, which is so expensive yet tiny that I can wear it in front of my in-laws, who think I should be dressed in rags and live in the kitchen.

Oh, decisions, decisions!

Yes, I was thinking that.

OK.. now I have made a complete about face RE which necklace to buy.
I didn't look at the picture of the entrelaces necklace closely until you just posted this last pic. I didn't realize that there was not a "bow" on the center of it like the ring. I think the way the two ends of the ring are free is the nicest part of the design.
Seeing that the necklace does not have this feature makes me like it a lot less.
Now after championing the cause of the Entrelaces necklace I am now on "Team Trinity."
Also.. even though Cartier is discontinuing the Entrelaces one there is always a secondary market and one day it will turn up on Ebay at a discount!
OK.. I have made my necklace statement of the day! :wavey:

I'm still on "Team Trinity", as I was from the start, but I like the points Rubies R Me makes, - it will always come up again in the after market, so you could pick it up then but the Trinity --- always a classic.

E dear.. sometimes you are wise.. sometimes I am..
We are a good team!!!

My, my, aren't we self-congratulatory today! (Joke) Now you can both go about your business all puffed up with what a fab team you are. ROFL!!

Yes! Now we can fancy ourselves as successful necklace negotiators!

I don't like the entrelaces necklace at all :(

The trinity however is stylish and timeless :)

Thank you SO much for posting this for me! I so, so appreciate you going to the time and trouble to do that for me. Aren't you nice?

I can't buy anything on ebay though, because when I moved from the UK to the US Paypal got thoroughly confused and now they think I'm some kind of international criminal.
