Opinions please. Just plain old red...

There is no such thing as plain old red. If you can provide a swatch or example colour, then most PSers can advise accordingly. There are always modifiers (hue and saturation), which will make one lean with white, yellow, rose or some other gold / platinum.

I voted for "yellow gold, duh" :D

I think red with rose would clash. Red with white might be nice, but it would take away some of the saturation, imo.

Ruby red

Still no help. Most rubies have a pink hue to it, very close to the meg. spinels. If it has a pink/ purple/ blue hue to it then I would go with white gold. If it is more stop light red with yellow or organge hues then I perfer yellow gold. But it also depends on the design and nature of the jeweler piece (ie ring, pendant etc)

I think either white gold or yellow gold would work depending on your skin tone. Are you pale or do you have a warmer more olive complexion? I think darker skin tones look amazing in yellow gold (and white gold) whereas paler tones look better in white gold. But that's just my opinion. It depends what you like best on you.

Im sure that this will have soMe sort Of undertone though i havent seen the exact rough yet, but ive been told by gene classic ruby red. I really really dont like whitE gold rings ( i found out too late) so i was kind of hoping people might say a nice coppery rg might work. Because its default now is yg but i was secretly hoping for rg

how can there be no such thing as pure red though. Sure mine probably isnt i know, but it has to exist in theory i figured

If you look at a range of rubies you'll get all different tones and shades ranging from pink, purple, brown etc etc. Pure ruby red is an opinion because what you'll see as pure ruby red, I may not and vice versa. I have red stone rings in yellow gold and also in white gold. There's no way I would put a red stone in rose gold unless it had TONS of purple in it.

i know the question is vague but i was just hoping there was some red thay would go with rg.
Sounds like no. Rats. is my favorite color. Yellow gold looks better on me than white. My mom only wears yellow and we have the same skin tone.

I don't understand? So why not go for yellow gold? It's a traditional look for a ruby.

In a previous post i said i will probably go yellow gold. I was just hoping to hear rose gold would look good. I only threw wg in because I knew someone would vote that, and i wanted to see how many.

Right now im just thinking a rich 18k yg with a nice icie white d-f side stones... Itll be nice, but rose gold is just my favorite. I knew in the back of my head it wouldnt work, i just wanted Someone to confirm it

Duplicate post

White or yellow will work, but as you dislike white, high karat yellow gold is awesome for most rubies. Rose gold rarely works with rubies unless the blue component is very strong.

Thanks, though it would have to be 18k, but very goOd visual!
Is apricot gold a real thing? If so would it wOrk? Ive seen things about it and really like the color i thought ive seen on sme articles on here before

sI think you'll have to check with the vendor as to their definition of rose gold or apricot gold or whatever it may be called.

Yellow or white gold. I agree with what was said above for rose gold. RG looks good with greens (especially bluish ones), blue stones, and purple stones.

Ohhhh really REALLY REALLY lovin' the 22k appricot. Hello beautiful!

The peach and apricot gold have proprietary formulation so these have to be specially ordered and custom made by a select few vendors, possibly only one or two vendors only.

Well wouldnt that apricot one look good though? Or no? I think it doesnt look like rose gold, but my eyes could be tricking me

I think it looks more orangish than pink.

Yes it can be done. I think ppl are just providing their opinions and they don't think it's an optimal combination. Fwiw, reinsteinross Ross has a pair of ruby cuff links in peach gold that are fantastic. I don't see anything In apricot. Lots of red stones in their chartreuse colour which makes sense because chartreuse usually has a hint of green in it. Sorry for typos still adjusting to ipad.

You can google: Laurie Sarah Designs

She has some red stones in rose gold. I didn't see any rubies tho. You can look and see if you'd like something in that color combination.

Perhaps a combination of rose gold and another color? Like yellow or white gold?

Did I mention that I have a 1 carat ruby in a white gold simple solitaire setting? [I'm sick with the flu so I can't remember what I've mentioned.]

I seriously doubt that you'll see much difference between a high karat yellow gold and this apricot one. The difference will be so subtle but you'll be paying a very high premium for apricot gold. If you love rose gold then just get it. It doesn't matter whether we like it or love it - you have to wear it!

Just bear in mind that the two red stones linked to had very high proportions of brown and so will look very different from a ruby red.

Im sure your right. And i am comfortable with yellow gold and im sure i would see what you guys see about it clashing. I just seriously have no place around me that sells 18k rose gold to see first hand that it doesnt match, so i cant conpare it myself
