Do you think bullets would have a lot of flashes? Or will the be small to have an attractive light return. I know they wont be as "sparkly ", but i like step cuts and the way the flashEnerchi|1361147947|3382688 said:Thanks for posting the DBL example - those are perfect chubby trillions, for sure!!
I love the trillion or pear options because to my eye, they extend and make the ring look more elongated. I find the rounded shapes of the ovals or 1/2 moons accentuate the rounded curves of the oval, and if you are sensitive about (what I would consider a PERFECT!!) 7.25 ring size, to me, the taper of trillion or pears, just minimizes the width that worries you.![]()
Enerchi|1361149631|3382721 said:hmmm... I don't know their performance well enough to advise on that. I do know baguettes are not as 'sparkly' so bullets would function in a similar way. More of a flash and a "slice" look, than a twinkle, which is what 1/2 moons, trillions, ovals would give you.
What I'd suggest is maybe if you are cruising DBL, look for rings with bullets and if they have videos, just see how they perform??? OR maybe GOG has a video on bullets in his library of videos???
I wish I could answer you better than that.. I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful...![]()

Revise my vote - this is the most beautiful ring ever! Pear sides would be perfect! And since you adore pears this might be a gorgeous option.

Those pics you posted are beautiful Rosebloom, i really like a lot of those, though im trying to avoid a halo, its too common (one of the reasons im disappointed in my pear) I would make it a 5 stone but my only concern there is that i dont have enough finger coverage

I am fairly certain thats going to be out of my budgetBut i love her work SOOO much. I considered either going with ERD or waiting longer and going with LM....But i think ERD does do nice work, and its a lot more budget friendly. Though i dont know just how bad a "bmw" price is

Leon Mege is a man but yes, his work is absolutely stunning! May I ask what the center will be? I love love love half moons with ovals because they're so unique and the added finger coverage is always yummy! More ovals would definitely provide the most finger coverage (depending on how big they are), but I also really love pear sides! Tough decision, but for me, it'd depend on what the center would be and what color.

nielseel, I like this ring because it is not so "expected". It is classic and looks like a lot of thought was put into its design. It has that little bit of "extra" that makes it important.
I am excited for you!![]()

Im leaning toward bullets but i just need some info on if they would be flat or perform like little ECs

Hi Nielseel!![]()
Coming out of lurkdom to say that the oval with bullet side stone ring you posted is mine! Yay!
I would say that step-cut bullets are pretty subtle. I wouldn't describe them as "flat", but I do get more flashes of light versus sparkle. They definitely make an impact, but I agree with you that they need to be a certain size to get credit for the shine (and for the shape.)
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions about them.

Yes I do have a few question. What size are those bullets? And what is the length of your oval? my pear gives off "sparkle" and i think i actually prefer the flashes of step cuts. You think your bullets are large enough to give off good flashes and emphasize the shape enough?? I would imagine they do but you know what "assuming" does![]()
Yeah my center will be a colkred stone so im not too concerned about the difference in faceting. I did ask originally for your specs but then i just looked at your posts instead to avlid ypu having to repeat yourself. It really is a beautiful ring. What type of band do you wear with it?Kellybell|1361244212|3383934 said:nielseel|1361243251|3383912 said:AH!! I was hoping you would pop your head outYour ring is just absolutely mesmerizing! Awww, you are so sweet!! Thanks for the compliments on my ring - I don't mind you posting it at all.
The bullets are 0.9 cts total weight, so 0.45 each. My oval is 9.63 mm in length. I do think my sidestones are big enough to get credit for both the shape and the sparkle (I had originally wanted to go smaller, but Leon thought these would be a better fit...I'm glad I went with his opinion.)
If you feel that your center stone gives off enough "sparkle" that you don't think you will need to rely on the side-stones for that extra "oomph", and if you think you would prefer the contrast of the step-cut side stones with the cut of your center stone, then I think they would be a great match (but I am pretty biased as that's the exact combo I was going for with my e-ring, so take that opinion with a grain of salt.)

But I do love that oval look - and the proportion seems perfect to my eye between the centre and sides. Good ratio!
