High five, my three stone sista!

Hi Mrs. T - I'm new here so maybe it will be good to get an opinion from a new PSer's perspective and a fresh set of eyes. I just looked at your current setting and I love it! I think your stone looks very substantial especially in that setting. I don't see how a three stone will be any different than what you already have (coverage wise). Both give you side to side diamond finger coverage and I personally think three stones can sometimes make the center stone appear smaller plus to me three stones look more like band rings unless you get small enough side stones so as not to overpower the center. I think smaller melee in a band help to make the center the star of the show IMHO ..don't hate me three stone ladies...just my personal opinion. By no means does your current setting take away from your beautiful stone in fact it makes it the star. I think your setting is classy, elegant, very unique, and the entire ring itself is substantial on your finger and I don't think your stone appears small. Honestly when I went to check out your setting I was expecting your stone to look small from what you posted in this thread and I must say that I was surprised when I saw your ring as that was not the case at all. As for halos so far I haven't been a real fan as I see so many and they are so much the current trend. Although I must say mom2boy's two carat halo is beautifully done and gives the illusion of a three carat + ring. So if you really are not happy with your setting then I would get a beautifully done halo vs the three stone .

So there you have yet another opinion :D

I've been thinking about the great advice and trying to decide the way to go.

1. Three Stone with 1ct each side stones.
For some reason the plain 3 stone feels to me like it will not be any different then what I already have. If the center stone sat a little higher that might look better than my existing ring but I still will need more like some kind of eternity band with it. The only thing I think looks best are smaller eternity bands.

What type of setting will allow for bands to sit next to this ring style? Who makes the most sparkly eternity bands?

2. Three Stone Halo with .80ct sides
I am really drawn to the halo three stone. Not knowing who to go to for a price I started with Victor Canera. Leon Mege makes a pretty version too. I already received a quote from VC and he is very very helpful. The ring would have 80pt sides and the mele a little smaller around the sides and a bit larger around the center stone. I can't supply my own side stones.

3. Single halo with flush sitting eternity bands
For some reason I'm becoming quite interested in a gold halo either round or cushion frame with platinum eternity bands sitting flush in front and back. I'm thinking yellow gold around my center stone will make it pop.

Which manufacturer or designer would help me with this? What kind of melee would I use? Single cut or brilliant cut?

I plan to go city shopping and taking pictures of the various styles. I'll be doing this in the next week or two. I'll post images if they let me.

Luckky's round in cushion halo is beautiful.

The pic under option #1 is my set--I bought my pave eternity bands from Victor Canera w/ single cuts. They are 1.9mm diameter and I love the look of them together stacked! They are very low in height and I have not noticed any damage to my engagement ring thus far. He can make them to several different mm widths but you don't want to go to thin for durability's sake. He has a bright cut pave eternity band that may also work w/ an engagement ring.

Victor can make option #3 for you also if you decide pursue this route.

I'm loving your beautiful dilemma MrsT! I also have a gorgeous 3 stone that is perfect for me and yet... I hear ya on the 'craving' for more more more!!! :-)

The 3 stone halo is also done by Henri Daussi and DBL, IDJ and I think others, carry that line, so it maybe worth a discussion with one of those vendors to see about putting your stone (and they supply the sides for you), if that's a look you like.

But that YG halo you just posted above - that's a pretty sweet ring, too!!! :lickout:

(Laila - "3 stoner sista's - LMAO!! )

mom2boys: You have the best of both worlds. Thanks for posting pics of your gorgeous rings. They are an inspiration.

I'll let you all know how this progresses.

Thanks again!

I think this is a first. As crazy as it sounds I made a mock up of the ring styles

I ruled out the halo three stone. It's a beautiful ring but I might tire of it.

Out of curiosity and plain lack of patience I got an idea of creating my own model of the two styles I think are going to work.
I had some tacky stuff and all sizes of shiny dots so I got to work.

I'm reluctantly posting the images. You really need imagination to visualize due to the crude workmanship but I think I'm feeling very comfortable due to this little experiment.

Granted, the tiniest size mock melee were 1mm in size. I think that might be too large for the center stone if I halo it but I really liked the finger coverage. Would 1mm melee be too large to surround the 2ct stone? Adding 1mm to the 8mm 2ct gives me great coverage of at least 10mm for the center stone. I think thats great. I was worried it would be too dainty for my hands but I think it might be ok.

For the 3stone image the side stones are 5mm or 50pt. I'm so suprised that I like this size for the sides. I thought larger would be better but it allows the center stone to stand out. I could go a bit larger for the sides but not sure I even need 80pt each side. I love mom2boys double eternity bands so I did a mock up of those too.

Well, Leon, Steven, Victor... all better watch their backs with your diamond designs on the horizon!!! :wink2:

Very creative approach to checking out what to do - I'm impressed with the ingenuity, Mrs T - VERY clever! My eye is still drawn to the 3 stone and I do like the 5mm / .50 as sides to your stone. I think it makes your centre stone pop and looks very much like the proportions on Mom2Boys's ring.

I'm gonna hit Michael's on the way home from work... I love that craft you did!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

I'm impressed!! My eye is drawn to the three stone too. I think .55s or maybe .60s would be perfect!

The halo is really pretty too though. I think it depends on do you want more horizontal coverage, or just a bigger looking diamond overall?

I'm a little partial to the second mock up! My side stones are actually .55ct each--I do recommend smaller side stones in general to the center diamond to make the center look bigger.
