My girlfriend and I have talked about getting married for awhile. We started looking at rings a year ago and more seriously the last few months. We started looking online then at local jewelry stores. I eventually stumbled across this site. Reading all of your posts has helped a lot in our search. My girlfriend picked out a setting she and I liked a few weeks ago (after changing her mind a million times). We originally looked at the setting with a 1 ct round for the center stone. Since she hasn’t changed her mind about it in a whole month, I bought it (without her knowing of course). I got it a little bigger than 1 ct (I’m one of those “never upgrade guys”). I think she will be pleased. Tell me what you think. How did I do for my first jewelry purchase ever?

"I got it a little bigger than 1 ct."

The center stone looks quite sizeable -- how much bigger did you go? We here on PS need details.

The setting is very cool. It''s neat that you could get her a setting you know she likes and still surprise her. Just don''t keep the poor girl in suspense too long.

It is beautiful, you did good!

Methinks she''ll be thrilled, you did a great job.

Please give us the specs when you can, and details on the setting. You have nothing to worry about, the ring is stunning!!!

I LOVE that setting have not seen one quite like that before :) you did UBER well :) I think she is going to be fantastically pleased :) More then what a girl expects is always better :)

Thanks ladies! I will post some pics of the band and more details on Monday. Thanks again!

This weekend my girlfriend and I went to a different jewelry store where she picked out a few rings to try on. I asked her if she liked any of them. She said that she liked one of them but she loved the one at the other jewelry store. Of course she still doesn’t know that I already have bought it. Just in case my girlfriend happens to call or stop by, I instructed the sales associate that I worked with from the other jewelry store to tell her that the ring she likes was sold and can’t be ordered because it has been discontinued (all of which is true). I have added a few more pics (I tried to be more creative), I will add some more with the band tomorrow.
