Positive experience with vendor: Art Cut Gems

Just wanted to leave a positive experience with the vendor, Art Cut Gems, Rick Martin. I purchased an inexpensive but beautiful sunstone. Very prompt shipping and nice gem, excellent cutting (at least to my beginner eye). It arrived today and I think it is beautiful. Very sunny yellow, moreso than the pic seems to indicate, and sparklier than I thought it would be. Very nice.

So happy to hear it. Although he has a good reputation, I basically stopped checking his site, because he didn't seem to be updating it any more. Do you know if he started again?

He does put new stuff up but not in one big drop I believe. As he sells something he puts something else up. I bought a pair of blue/green tourmalines from him in May. He had a smaller set on his website and when I emailed him about them he told me about the pair I bought that weren't posted yet. I really like the 3 stones I have bought from him - I have set all of them and get many compliments.

Glad you love your new sunstone!!!! Are you setting it?

I don't know if he updates; that was one of my first visits to his site. I was just browsing the other day. I've been looking for a yellow pale stone for awhile and I just liked it. Someday I would like a yellow sapphire, but I thought this was pretty in its own right and it was so inexpensive, I decided to go for it. It is more yellow and less brown than the photo (or any of my photos) suggest.

As far as setting it, I am not sure. I am thinking of putting it into a ring, but is sunstone too soft? I have been doing some reading on here and it seems pretty soft.
