Okay, what wonderful ideas has everyone got/had for seating charts and/or place cards...

we are huge wine lovers, so we used placecards (ours were plain white)
that we printed on paper source paper (thanks jcrow!) and used these
wine cork placecard holders.
they looked beautiful all set up in on the table outside the dining room
and everyone loved them

eta, ours were actually a tad different- we purchased them from an ebay vendor and they had little "feet" on them-
but you get the idea.

for mine and dh's we used three wine corks glued together, standing vertically, with the slit cut so they stood a tad taller on the placecard table

We''re getting married at a restaurant that is also a bird sanctuary, so one idea I had for the table names is to use names of birds. For our place cards, the one image that sticks out in my mind is one I saw somewhere but I can''t remember where. It was a deep rectangular glass dish or something with river rocks inside. Placed in between the rocks were the place cards, simply written. It was a nice presentation. I haven''t thought of what I''d like to do but these are some things swirling around my head right now.

A friend of mine got married on the seacoast, and her table names were islands in the area. Each one had the name and a description of each island. I thought that was clever. She also printed up a seating chart that looked more like an index you''d find in the back of a book. Everything was crossed-referenced too. I can''t remember if her chart was held on a chart stand/easel or if it was just placed on a table. Either one could work.

We're using symbols as table names. These pick up on design elements in the restaurant. They're actually just a font from MS Word! But I think they look awesome. We'll print them up on pearlescent card stock that matches our invitations.

we used numbers for the tables, but at each table we had an 8x8 mat board in burgundy with the table number printed on white paper-source paper, and "matching" photos of us at different stages- each as infants, at a birthday, with santa, with grandpa, swimming, etc.
We grayscaled the photos so they all looked b&w, matted them on the same paper as the table number and glued all 3 "boxes" onto the mat board. These were displayed on mini-easels we purchased off ebay.
I wish we had a photo to post- they were fairly simple, fun to do, and people are still raving about them (i guess they enjoyed looking at all the pics)

it was amazing we had 12 matching photos- i am youngest of 6, so i have about 20 baby photos and DH is oldest so had about 2000! lol.

Indy, I love those! I keep imagining your guests at the reception, comparing which table they''re sitting at:

One guest: "Where are you sitting?"
Another guest: "Oh, we''re sitting at the...the table with the...the symbol of the ???"
First guest (grinning): "Me too!"

I''m not sure how you''d describe each one but I love it. They seem to go with the decor of the venue you posted. Pretty chic.

Are you putting place cards out on a table, with the number of the table under the people's names, or are you having a seating chart and then the place cards already on the tables when people get there?

Just placecards with name/table # out front of dining room- not designated seating at the designated table.
