So I got married last week Friday morning in Barbados. Everybody said it was beautiful wedding - nice and intimate. But I''m sooo glad it''s over! Talk about stress! I didn''t go to sleep until 3:00 am the night before... and the wedding was at 9:00 am, so I was up at 6!
My hair and make-up were a complete disaster. I just have to say that a HAIR AND MAKE-UP TRIAL ARE VERY IMPORTANT!! I missed my last minute hair appointment the day before (stuck in traffic in Barbados) so my friends twisted my hair at 2:00 am - 7 hours before the wedding!! When it was undone it was all big, poufy and dry because the curling mousse my friend used didn''t agree with my hair! I kept looking at and thinking, "My hair looked better than this yesterday!" I was soo upset. My hair is usually soft and curly and for my wedding it was dry and pouffy.
And my makeup! IAnothe friend of mine did the makeup and I stressed to her that I wanted to look as NATURAL as possible, as I hardly wear makeup. She took nearly half an hour spreading on powder and foundation and eye-shadow, and when I looked in the mirror I was horrified!! I looked like a geisha! A half hour before my wedding! cry:] And my neck and face were completely different colours! My MOH and I had to take off half of it before it even looked acceptable.
By this time I was sooo stressed because the taxi was outside and I looked like some pouffy GEISHA on my wedding day!!
Anyways... 15 minutes later I finally looked somewhat like a real person, but we ended up reaching late to the wedding. IN RAIN!! It was raining since early morning and hadn''t stopped by the time the ceremony was due to start. So my outside ceremony had to be moved inside.
(I really wanted a garden ceremony). Anyway, the inside setting was okay. Just that people had to sit in their reception chairs for the ceremony as well.
I felt really nervous during the ceremony too. My FI and I are both reserved people who hate to be in the spotlight, so standing there with people gawking at us was a bit uncomfortable. I didn''t feel as ''swept away'' as I expected to feel. Just nervous and fake-smiley. (Sigh...)
Oh, and my fake diamond headband/hairpiece was sooo tight that my head really started to hurt during the picture taking and reception. So I didn''t enjoy it as much as I could have.
I''m just disappointed that things didn''t go exactly the way I expected them to be. Everybody said it was lovely, though, and the photos did turn out well, pouffy hair and all, but still....
(Sigh!) Just wanted to share... I''m feeling a bit bluesy and ''down'' since after the wedding. Not sure if it''s ''post wedding blues'' or what. Anyone with similar experiences? I should probably post this on the Family/Home Board. OH well...
