My favorite plain solitaire setting for a round is the classic Tiffany setting and for a princess, the Tiffany princess cut setting.

The simpler the better. Makes the stone pop and can be paired with many different bands over the yrs for totally different looks.

I love seeing all these solitaires in one thread. As much as I like side stones, when I reset my ering two years ago, I went from the classic yg solitaire (1987) to a split shand wg solitaire. Let's see if I manage to get some pics to post. (double crossed fingers...)

You've got lots of beautiful choices but I think my vote would be the classic Tiffany. I would go with Excel to make it - I still think their version is the closest to the real thing. I love the swoopy, six prong head - makes the stone look as large as possible. You could also pair many different bands with it - particularly if you don't mind the gap. I love the gap that it creates though!

I'm glad you are going back to a solitaire setting - I loved your solitaire before the halo!!

I LOOOOVE McTeigue & McClelland's Scallop Ring. It looks sort of like a Tiffany's with a half round shank that's tapered up.
