Hey everyone - so to make myself feel better about my dress, I took it in for an alterations consultation. This time, I wore a crinoline under the skirt, and left the neckline straight instead of pinning it to look like a sweetheart...

Can you let me know your preferences on both? I think I''m leaning toward both wearing a crinoline and leaving the neck straight after all...

Also, there are new pics of the bustle she suggested, which I love!

Let me know how you''d wear / alter this dress if you were me, there are so many choices!

This is pic #1, no crinoline, altered neckline:

And here it is with the crinoline and neck left straight:

The bustle - are there any other ideas anyone would suggest? I didn''t know that much about it and just let her pin how she suggested, but I''m sure there are all kinds of options!

Here''s another of the current bustle idea

And here''s a close up of the neckline altered to be a sweetheart...I wish I had a closeup of the neckline left straight for comparison but I don''t!

OK, I cheated and made a close up pic for comparison by cropping!

Straight neckline, yay to crinoline, great bustle!

I agree with everyone. I think crinoline makes your (anyone''s) waist look so tiny. I love it! I think I am wearing two layers (I can''t remember).

I like the straight neckline better... the sweetheart kind of detracts from the flowers and the lovely texture of the material. And the dress falls better with the crinoline, it looks more crisp. So I must agree with everyone else!!

i''m with everyone else. i like the straight neckline and the crinoline.
it''s a beautiful dress!

Love the straight neckline and crinoline! The skirt falls so nicely and the straight neckline will look gorgeous with your jewelry, and wont compete with the flowers on the bodice. I think the sweetheart makes it too busy.

The French bustle (the pinning your seamstress did) is beautiful! I really like the French bustle because it doesn''t add all that material on to the behind, so it keeps your profile and heiney small. Also, there are no loops to break so your dress wont come tumbling down; it is really secure. It isn''t uncomfortable at all to wear, and when they do it they make the strings with different color tips so your bridesmaid or mom or whomever is going to help you can easily match them and tie up the bustle. It takes about 10 minutes and is easier with two people helping. It''s such a goregous look on your dress; it keeps it modern and slim. I can''t wait to see the final product!

Absolutely the straight neckline and crinoline! Looks beautiful - no comparison to the other look IMHO!

And another vote for the straight neckline and crinoline. And I LOVE the bustle - it looks so elegant and refined, kind of like the pick-ups on the more high-end expensive designer gowns - very sophisticated and lovely!

Without a doubt, with the crinoline and straight neckline. It looks much "cleaner" that way and lays smoothly the way it looks like it should! Beautiful dress! I like the bustle too.

YEP..crinoline and straight neckline! that 2nd picture looks fab..i love your ring posing model shot. hehehe.

Ditto, ditto, ditto!!! I''m not sure why b/c it''s fairy subtle, but NO QUESTION, I vote for
1) with crinoline
2) straight neckline
3) french bustle

It looks AWESOME!!!!

Love it with the crinoline! LOVE the bustle! And truthfully, I think the neckline could go either way. I do like the sweetheart, but they both look beautiful IMHO

Straight neckline for sure! It made the whole dress come together in more modern and clean line. Forgive my ignorance, but what is crinoline???? Thanks!

Thanks everyone! You confirmed my hunches...

And a crinoline is aka a petticoat, aka a slip wtih netting layers for fullness...You need to wear one under lots of wedding gown styles to make them look how they''re intended to look...

I like it much better this way, it looks perfect on you!

against popular opinion, I vote for the sweetheart neckline. Although both nice, I think that it 1) suits the style of the dress much better and 2) is more flattering on you. And yes, crinoline!

katrina: beautiful gown -- i couldn''t tell if you''ve made a final decision, but i really like the sweetheart neckline. although, i really think that it looks nice either way. Definately the crinoline -- it makes a huge difference in a great way!

I''m going with the crowd on this one: straight neckline, crinoline, french bustle. It looks great on you!

ditto, double, triple, quadruple ditto on the majority vote...it is a gorgeous dress on you....LOVE IT

Hi Katrina,

Your dress is gorgeous, I love the shirred bodice and asian looking flowers. I have to say that while I agree pic #2 looks best, I have to deviate a little from the majority here and say I love the look of the modified-sweetheart. I think that looks best with the gown and your body (more hourglass), but it works very well straight too.

thanks all!!!!

i think i''m going to have the bodice altered just to fit, along with the bustle put in since im sure about those 2 things and the crinnoline.

when it''s all put together, i''ll make a decision about the neckline because i do like it both ways and would like to see how it looks with crinnoline and sweetheart neck since i haven''t seen it that way yet

appreciate everyone''s feedback so much!
