@PreRaphaelite I’d love to see what’s in the era baggies and how you wear your massive collection!! ::) :cool2:

Teaser pic from another thread

Each one of these little bags is a ‘capsule’ (thanks @DorotheaBrooke for the idea) separated by gold color, then by House - such as Etruscan, Edwardian, etc. One of the things I like best is getting a new item sorted into its house by comparing it to existing capsules. Sigh! What a hobby!

Sorry for the delay in posting but I’m struggling with my photos. I used to know how to do this but I’ve forgotten.

There’s a bunch more capsules to come but here are my #1 and #2 capsules (in order of how often I wear them).

First up, rose-cut diamond dormeuse earrings with intact foil + an unadorned long-chain with dog clip. I wear these at least twice a week and often forget they’re on me because they’re light-weight and never get in my way. Usually any silk twill blouse works with these but v-neck twinsets also work.

Next up, 9k rose gold watch chain, heart locket bracelet, earrings, bangles, and ring. The heavy trombone/paper clip chain can be doubled as a bracelet but I prefer it as a necklace even though it requires an extender that way. The little pendant is in need of a 9k rose gold antique trace chain, which I haven’t found yet….. but I’m looking for it. (Please let me know if you know of any!) The studs on the right side are paste. I wear these in various combinations twice a week or so, mostly with faded jeans and a corset cover and cropped cardie.

Capsule #3 is a versatile one and I wear it two or three ways, depending on the pendant. Antique (of course) 14k yellow watch chain with various attachments (including my Great-Grandmother’s pocket watch from 1914) and sometimes layered with a sterling chain I added to the gold-filled c-clasp which belonged to my Grandfather. The studs are paste on the left and garnet on the right. Sometimes I add the cameo which belonged to my Great-grandmother’s sister Lou (it’s inscribed on the reverse). The gold chain is just long enough to pull over my head and it’s surprisingly sparkly when worn, so I also plan to wear it out to dinner if it is ever safe to leave the house again.

Capsule 4 is in honor of my Grandfather who came from Versitsion at Kalavtyta, in Greece. So here we have Athena, reminding me to be wise and always have a battle plan (well, that’s the idea anyway). I wear this when I have to be an adult, about once a week (-ish).

Oh my, your capsules are amazing! Well, the contents of the capsules are Amazing! Your grandfather is from Greece… mine too!! And so was my grandmother. We’re probably related

I hope we are related! Family can be such a joy! <3

And now the Etruscan Revival. Only a few pieces so far but I plan for this to be a much bigger capsule as I trundle along finding things. At the moment I’m wearing this with coral (cheap stuff) but eventually there will be agate and Persian turquoise and perhaps moonstone if I’m lucky.

The chain seen here is Victorian and the goal is to find two ‘acorn’ style pendeloques with rose-cut diamond collets as the end-pieces. I’ll likely have the slider clasp made if I can’t find an original one. (Inspiration pic added for clarity.)

The pin is two-tone and that doesn’t quite work so my plan is to have the diamond rondelle set as a pendant fixed stationary on a yellow chain.

The bangle is contemporary but a good candidate for white gold or black silver star-shaped stations with rose cuts embedded. The Florentine finish suits the aesthetic I think, and since it’s vintage but not antique, I feel okay with customizing it. The coral rose is one of two, and it hangs on my mother’s 18k chain. The pale coral necklace is probably not all coral - the larger beads seem like dyed bone, but the smaller beads seem like coral. (It was twelve bucks. Who cares!) I wear this with charcoal and it feels decadent. Definitely useful for those days when I want to pretend I’m a museum acquisitions coordinator for a Decorative Arts gallery in London. Which I am not. More’s the pity.

Final capsule is centered on my Great-grandmother’s watch chain upon which I hung a much smaller watch and an antique wild boar tusk (no it is certainly not a tiger tooth). I wear the Lemonade paste studs with it and various rings. Sometimes the Smokey topaz ones are easier to get on and off again though. Generally, this set is more often just admired than actually worn, but when I ever have a sundress on again someday, this will be the bling for it. I do plan to add Edwina to this set when she’s mounted again (next post) and maybe even Ladybird as well (ehhh we’ll see).

And now for the projects I’ve been procrastinating against.

Edwina should go into Marjorie’s old setting, I think.

This 14k blush gold watch is Russian and I love its face. Need repair and one 14k link added to its bracelet. Unusual to find the bracelet in real gold in my experience but I guess I got lucky. Feel free to tell me if you think I should change it for a ribbon instead, but what color?

My moss agate locket needs a a bale. I used the dog clip shown for a while but now I’m unable to make a decision about it. Thoughts?

I picked up this Victorian ring setting with the plan to ask David Klass to plunk whatever stone he liked into it’s prongs. Naturally it’s been sitting here for more than a year. I’ll email him someday about it.

Marjorie needs to get her GIA inspection. But I haven’t sent her yet. My Pinterest and Instagram are choked full of resetting ideas. But I can’t decide.

My little Georgian-style girl got bored on the yellow gold chain. I think she deserves a new one. Maybe in rose gold?
DECC6757-57D6-436D-BA1E-D1110F20B14A.jpeg

Bought this landscape agate pin and immediately forgot about it. No idea what piece it needs to live on, or in, to be happy.

Finally, ladybird. Should I have her mounted on this spare chain? Sigh.

Thanks for your support and encouragement everyone!

These are all keepers. I haven’t shown all the capsules here in this thread, because there are some things I won’t be keeping - those belong in Preloved not in the main threads. Anything that I haven’t decided one way or the other about keeping, is also unspoken for now. I know you friends understand! Thanks!

ok I fell in love with you a little bit when I read this! Would love to play jewellery dress up with you!

Gorgeous!!!! I love all of it especially the antique chains!

This is fabulous! I loved seeing each capsule and hearing how you wear them, you had me mesmerized :kiss2:

Thank you for your kind words!
There are two, one is a (probably natural) sapphire signet ring in 18k called Beverly. I only wear her in the office because I’m afraid of my own carelessness. She’s the first sapphire I have ever had.

The other ring is 14k rose gold, marked and tested - but unnamed! I can’t think of anything that describes her. Feel free to make suggestions! Sold to me as Spinel but I don’t know how to tell if natural or synthetic. (Time for me to look that up!) I incidentally hadn’t realized until the first time I wore her that she’s slightly Sugarloaf. I love a cabochon, and I’ve never had a narrow-top shape cabochon before.

Wow wow wow and wow.
Each piece is so beautiful and your arrangements perfect.
I adore antique watches personally and was thrilled to see you have one. I would suggest a black silk grosgrain ribbon, that is the traditional type.

I am in love with your gold chains. Lovelovelove!

I would suggest a black silk grosgrain ribbon, that is the traditional type.

Thank you! And it's so heavy! I think maybe I'll have to double up the ribbon or even braid three strands to create thickness.

When I found this watch I didn't care if the mechanism could be saved - but in researching the hallmarks inside, it seems it might be worth sending for actual repair. Once it's ready to wear again, I'll layer it with pearls and start searching for a slender rose gold bangle, yes, oooooh or maybe rose-cut pavé on blackened silver. Oh my goodness I'm greedy.

I absolutely adore your collection! Every piece is just sensuous, romantic, I love the color palette of your whole collection as well.

You are all too kind. Thank you! I'm so happy.

Oh my goodness, you have style! Each grouping is so unique, romantic, and simply gorgeous. Your idea to keep them together in capsule bags is brilliant. Already one of my all-time favorite threads. I would be happy to look at photos forever. (More photos!!) Also, your outfit descriptions are lovely. Beautiful!

Thanks so much!

For scale, here are the earrings I wear most often. It’s hard to find dormeuses like this - most rose cut drops are *tiny* but these have good presence and go from day to evening, from grannie-chic to savage-sultry, effortlessly. I’m so glad I found them!
