No fluorescence, F color. Jeweler is asking $23,000 for it.

I have seen the diamond in person and it's very nice looking, but I know almost nothing about diamonds. Is this a reasonable price or should I keep looking?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Cushion Cut 1.51 GIA G cut, VG polish, VG symmetry....

Is this a very posh store? Is it a special kind of cushion?

The price is on the high side, I'm assuming it is a generic cushion.

Julie, thank you for your reply.

I don't know if it is a special cushion. It is a GIA stone, but beyond that I don't think there is anything classified as special. If you have any info on what would make it a special stone, I would appreciate it.

The jewelry store is not what I would call posh. It is a family jewelry store that advertises diamonds and sells lower end jewelry too like those bracelets where you can by the theme beads and string them on. Not sure of the name.

Probably talking about pandora. Price does seem high. Check out James Allen.

Just did a PS diamond search (top of the page - plug in your parameters +/- a grade or two) and this is what I found. I'd say the $23K if MUCH too high!

That's BS!!!!!!!!!! This stone is a 1.51 F VS2 no FL better in symmetry with VG (although with cushion it doesn't matter) but better polish and it's over $10,000 less!!!!!!!!!!!! And that doesn't even include the PS discount JA gives which is 5%:

Way too high .. does it come with a setting or something? Is it like a Harry Winston ring???

My Radiant F colour VS1 Ex 1.5ct diamond was half that price. And I am in Australia (which makes it doubly expensive). That was 6 years ago, but definitely look elsewhere!

Thank you everyone for your insights!

No, not Harry Winston and the price is just for the diamond. They quoted the band which is an exact duplicate of a Tiffany ring for about $4000. I did tell the jeweler my total budget, which may have been a mistake?

I will look at the links that you all have provided. How does one get the 5% discount from James Allen?

Which Tiffany ring?

For the largest discount, you pay by bankwire.

Thanks for the tip, Julie.

The Tiffany ring is the Legacy.

The thing I noticed was that If you tell them your budget is lets say 10k. They'll try and get the most even if the item could be had for a lot less.
I think it's probably better to give them a range instead of a set value.
