would like to know roughly, what would a price diff be between a rb, and cushion stone of the same size and quality.

Honestly, there are too many parameters to make a guess! Cushions face up smaller so do you mean carat for carat or face up size for face up size? Do you mean both being branded cuts or not?

i mean face up size..carat for carat. for example a rb stone of the same cut n clarity vs. a cushion of the same size n clarity.?

These are not the same thing. Same carat weight in the two, the RB will look larger face up, cushions are deep. So a 1ct RB will have larger face-up dimensions than a 1ct Cushions. This matters because with deep fancies there seems to be a carat weight price adjustmet (sometimes) that takes this difference into account. For example, princess cuts cost less per carat, but they face up smaller, so in the end for the same face-up size you pay about the same. Cushions are similar, though with branded cuts the adjustment doesn't seem to be par, so branded cushions seem to cost more per face up mm than RBs even thought the carat weight prices may be less for cushions.

For example, a 1.7ct squate H&A cushion G VS2 (branded) costs about $14K and measures about 6.7mm square. This is the same face up size as a 1.2ct RB, which in the same color and clarity costs about $8k. But a 1.7ct G VS2 RB would cost about $18k. So the cushion costs less per carat BUT it costs more per face up mm size.

thanks that was very informative..another question. when upgrading from a rb to a cushion..will you get your fair value you paid for your rb..stone. while doing the upgrade to a cushion..and in order to get the same face up size i would need to go larger in the cushion..for a 3 ct round. 9.17 mm. what would be a comprable face up size in a cushion stone?

Cushions are typically -5% to -25% smaller face up spread than round brilliants.
In addition if you had 2 stones with the same spread, the round will possibly still appear 2-10% in weight terms larger because it can have better light return from the edges.

The trade in value will vary by vendor.

A comparable face up size in a cushion for a 9.17mm RB would be 9.17mm

Cushions are like snowflakes, they are not standardized at all, so I cannot begin to tell you what the equivalent ct. weight would be for that mm spread.

Hi liaali

Many vendors won''t accept diamonds to part exchange regrettably and even if you can resell or trade in your stone, it is usual to only receive 30 - 50% of what you originally paid, assuming the stone has a GIA or other reliable lab report.
