Hello everyone! I am new to Price Scope and only have been on this site for 2 days, and I learned a lot from you guys. So thank you!

My intension was to look for the price for 2 ct Harry Winston solitaires, but I could not find any (or all the prices I found here were from a couple of years ago). So I made a call to the New York salon as well as the Chicago salon to find out the prices, which were a little more than I expected. I figured I should post the prices here to help anyone who is interested in the minimum price for 2 ct HW solitaires.

New York: 71,000
Chicago: 70,100

I checked the Tiffany's website also, and their 2 ct tiffany settings are priced from $38,600, which is almost an half of a HW! I am sure that the the quality of the stones can vary, but the size is most likely the first thing people notice.

Hope I helped someone out there who is interested in HW rings.

Like you mentioned, size may be the most noticeable thing when discussing these rings, but it is not the only factor in the price. It would be helpful to know what kind of specs the HW 2ct rings had in order to compare them to Tiffany pricing for one (and all other 2ct solitaire pricing in general), as the online pricing for Tiffany is based on the theoretically lowest specs stones they carry (which I believe is I SI2, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong on the clarity, I'm pretty positive the lowest color they will go is I). So in a sense, it's not comparing apples to apples even when you're talking about designer brands.

(To go even further, Tiffany grades their own diamonds so if you are comparing a HW 2ct F VS1 and a Tiffany 2ct F VS1 they still may not be really of the same quality.)

I'm pretty sure HW stores don't go below anything lower than a G and that their stores don't have anything lower than a 2ct solitaire. You're buying the name more than the diamond. If you really want the HW, Cartier, Tiffany, etc name branded diamonds, then you'll have to pay a hefty price for their rings.

I've visited 2 HW stores, LV and LA, and both of them were a minimum of around $70-80K for their 2 ct solitaire rings.

Hope that helps

I agree with Kawfee here... unless you or your FF justj want to say, "It's a Tiffany" or "It's a Harry Winston," then you can most definitely find a much, MUCH larger, possibly nicer stone elsewhere. Honestly, how many times can you tell someone it's a brand name?? LOL  Get her a much larger, awesome diamond and let the stone speak for itself. ;))

What is your budget, OP?

Thank you very much Pandabee for your reply! I had no idea that Tiffany's stones go as low as I color. I just presumed that since hw and tiffany are all big brand names, their stone quality would be similar (i.e. F color and up, clarity VS2 and up). If what you said was the case, then the big price gap would make a lot more sense for me.

I completely agree with you msop04 that my budget (65,000) would get me a better stone elsewhere. However, in my social circle, brand name is as equally, if not more, important as the diamond itself (it is sad and shallow, I know :(( )

And I have something to add: I just called Graff and Cartier this afternoon. Cartier has a 2ct D VS2 Solitaire 1895 at the price of 63,800, and Graff has a 2ct G VS2 (with pear-shape side stones!!!!) at the negotiated price of 70,000. What's up with HW's solitaires?

Thank you very much for the information you provided Kawfee. I never knew that HW doesn't have anything smaller than 2ct!

Hey OP
You have a nice large budget, lucky you and sounds like you have to buy a name brand like Tiff or HW. It is your coin and you can do what you want with it.
I am not sure the experts on this forum can help you because the beauty of this forum is to find better cut and quality stones than the names above at much better prices! If the stone you want is $70K at HW, Whiteflash or BGD might sell a better performing stone for $50K, and you save $20K. Most people on this forum want the best "bang for the buck". Not sure that is possible when you buy from Tiff and HW and the likes. Again, its your coin and best of luck.

That's a shame, JmLola -- we could certainly have a blast with that budget! :Up_to_something:

I understand that social circles put a lot of pressure on those in them, but... I guess I have a difficult time wrapping my head around a $65K 2 carat stone with a name engraved in the metal vs something like this:

Different strokes, I guess! :)) I agree with the other poster that PS prizes quality and performance while getting the best "deal" for those premium specs over a name. ;)) Good luck in your search!

Just a thought..if you are into brands, then shock your circle with this unique diamond cut and have Victor make one of his masterful hand forged rings to your taste!! There are many on this forum that would love (or have) a ring by him and this cut!! I believe only Victor and Good Old Gold sell this diamond cut (antique cushion look but with high light performance). Good old Gold has a 3.13ct Color D AVC at $87K, but that may be out of your range. Of course, if you want a round and want to stay with a traditional brand, then this wouldn't work!

I agree that a completely hand forged custom ring from Victor Canera seems a lot more impressive than something bought "off the rack" at Tiffanys.

tweeter that is just gorgous.......look at some of the current celebrity rings different and antique is "in" Reese Witherspoons rare Ashoka-cut diamond. The 4-carat ring, a custom-design by the William Goldberg Diamond Corporation, is set on a pave diamond-and-platinum band. The unique cut also has 62 displayed facets and rounded corners

I think he got his answer and moved on as it looks like we are having our own "dream ring" discussion now lol

Gorgeous stone Tweeter!!

And imagine this beautiful ring with paired with one of these settings:
