Hi all.
I am looking for the princess cut solitary ring with the out. S-N, E-W.
I have browsed a lot of pages but I see nothing. Is it not popular, if so what is the reason?
I want to find a perfect princess cut ring, any ideas will be appriciated.

something like ==<>==, not ==||==...

Thanks

You mean having the diamond set with the corners at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o''clock, right?

I would guess it''s not popular because a princess cut has very fragile corners, and if you have them at the top and sides rather than the traditional way, then there''s a lot more risk of chipping them.

You could avoid the risk by getting a bezel setting, but you''d probably have to get it custom-made. Bezels are better custom anyway, so they fit the stone perfectly.

Another reason why that style isn''t popular might be that you need a perfectly square princess. If you set a slightly rectangular diamond in the traditional "square" style, it will look fine. If you set a slightly rectangular diamond at a 45 degree angle, it will look terrible. You wouldn''t see slight off-square proportions as easily in the regular setting style.

I''ve seen a couple rings like that. I think one was from Jared''s. I would look at your local B&M.

Here''s a few pics of a ring posted here on PS - I can''t remember who''s it is or who made it (Platinumsmith, maybe?).

Here''s a different ring from a Canadian company (Canadian Diamond Wholesale or something like that)

from what i understand, in order to have a princess set ''on point'' the stone has to be very square and it is difficult to find perfectly square stones. i think it looks really cool though! i hope you find your square princess...you will have a stunning ring!
