I just received my finished ring last Friday and am still seeing stars every time I look at it!

Stats: 2.04 carat Burma ruby, light heat only, gemstone report from GRS; 1.35tcw 18k princess mounting with yellow shank and prongs for ruby, diamonds mounted in white gold.

Good gemstones are like good diamonds in that it takes knowing what to look for to find a good one!! Like some of the carbony crap the commercial world would tell you is the best diamond on the market, so are colored stones. Except here, cut is NOT king. There are convincing created stones, highly treated stones, dyed stones, and nondesirable color modifiers (like brown or gray) that you have to watch for. IMO, the search for, and find of a great colored stone is so much more of an adventure that searching for a diamond. Those of you who are already wearing your common colorless bling (that was a joke, don't take seriously), come on over to the dark side.
