I should be cleaning my apartment and doing laundry. Instead, I''m on PS to keep me from freaking out about how I have no gas and have a doctor''s appointment on Friday, plus work tomorrow and Friday. I''ll be up until midnight or later getting things done because I can''t focus when I''m this stressed (yeah, writing papers in college was a blast...I was a nervy stress ball until they were turned in).

princesss - I hope everything is ok @ your docs app.. but the real reason I''m writing this is to warn you not to drive your tank to its limits- I ran out of gas last week thinking I could make it to the cheaper gas station. I had to walk (not too far thankfully) back and forth to a gas station, in my work clothes and heals... TWICE. There were 3 men at the gas station and none of them offered to drive me to the car with the gas, then a cop was waiting at my car the first time I returned just to tell me that my registration expires this month... he drove me back up but then told me I could walk back to the car the 2nd time. Is chivalry completely and utterly dead? Thankfully that was the worst part of my day. Also - my car hadnt been on empty too long, so dont take a chance.

Yeah, I normally don''t run my tank down like this, but I was getting low on cash and thought I could make it until pay day. I could (barely) but then all of the gas stations around here ran out of gas! I drove around a little bit, and then decided to come home and wait for BF. We can take his car to a station and fill up one of those red gas cans. It''s really bad around here right now. We''re probably going to be in line for about 2 hours.

Usually working.

Ordering products, shooting out e-mails, consulting with my employees, and of course my clients.

However, even with PS...my work still gets done.

I had a hunch it was Interior Design. I just graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelors degree in Interior Design. Where are you going to school? How do you like it so far?

I know how time consuming it can be! That''s why my husband bought me a drafting table (the one in my avatar) because he missed me so much. Little did we know that we wouldn''t really use it because I learned autocad after that.

One of my favorite parts about it being so time consuming is that you really get to bond with some of your classmates. We were a tight bunch calling each other in the middle of the night with questions. As a class we get together and have drinks. I recently went with my friends on a cruise and it was a lot of fun.

One of things I''m not so excited about is that there aren''t too many employment possibilities because the economy is so bad in San Diego. At the moment I''m just a housewife looking for a good opportunity. I''m not in too much of a rush, though because I''m just enjoying this free time that I haven''t had in forever!

Thats crazy, not only is your husband in the navy like my bf but we''re both into interior design AND my bf just bought me a portable drafting board for my birthday in August. lol I''m currently going to NYSID (New York School of Interior Design) and slowly making my way through my bachelors. I transferred from NYU two years ago over a summer period and got set back in classes because I registered too far past the registration date. I''ve been playing catch up ever since. So hopefully I''ll have my bachelors in a year and half.. but its dragging! I completely agree about the tightness between classmates... theres something grueling about withstanding design studios with one another, haha. You come out of it feeling like you''ve known everyone for years. A cruise sounds like fun - I suppose one day my friends and I will have free time to go on vacation

As for your job dilemma, I feel ya! I''m working as an assistant 45 minutes from my house right now, but the firm is small and the designers aren''t ASID accredited so it doesnt go towards any work hours for my qualification for the NCIDQ. But I''m very jealous of your free time. I wouldnt mind having some time off at ALL once I graduate. Right now I have class most of the week and I work Friday and Saturday

Did you move out to San Diego after you and your husband were married? My boyfriend and I were thinking of either San Diego or Hawaii for his next tour.. which would leave us long distance for some more time but eventually I''d be able to move out with him.
Yay for Interior Designers! Well consider yourself lucky for having a job as an assistant. New York is going to be way better for Interior Design than places like San Diego and Hawaii. Unfortunately, they are both beautiful but not really known as architecture meccas. I would say if you have a pick, ultimately, I would pick San Diego because it''s cheaper to live here than in Hawaii. My friend just moved to Hawaii and hasn''t been able to find work yet and says that locals usually get jobs before foreigners (don''t know if that part is true though). The good thing you have going is that you''ll be in school for another year and a half and hopefully the economy will improve by then.

As for my husband, I met him in San Diego. I''m originally from Los Angeles and I came to San Diego to go to SDSU. We met at a halloween party and we''ve been together ever since

When is your boyfriend''s tour over?

He leaves the ship he''s on now in August 2009, after his deployment. So we have more than enough time to decide what should happen and where we eventually want to live. I''ll still have a year left of school at that point so we''ll still be living separately for the first year on his new assignment. Unfortunately, even if he stays in Virginia it looks like the best place for me to try and work is up here around NYC which I''m not too thrilled about. Obviously because if my SO decides to stay in the navy he can''t be based in NY or NJ lol, also because most of the people I know who are now working full time and doing school part time have work hours from 8-8 at contract firms and I dont know if I want to have that nyc work my butt off attitude.

We''ll see.

Anyway, keep me updated... I''m sure you''ll find work soon.

I suggest that you get as much work done as possible before you make a possible move to San Diego or Hawaii. Firms are much more willing to hire you if you have experience and I''m sure you can get lots of that in New York. Have you decided what type of design you''d like to do yet?

This post has transformed to the Interior Design post lol. I haven''t decided yet. I took my first contract class over the summer - hated the office design but LOVED the restaurant. I think I need to get an internship or switch jobs and work at a contract firm for a little to see how I feel about it. What are you interested in heraanderson?

Lol, I know what you mean about office design. It''s so boring and tedious especially when you have to go onto websites like Steelcase and fit cubicles and office systems into the project. I swore off office design from there. What''s ironic was that I ended up doing an internship for an office design group and was surprised that it was not that bad. It''s certainly not Hospitality, but it''s still an option on my part. I thought I would love yacht design but I was surprised that I really didn''t. I would love to do Hospitality or Residential but they both have their pros and cons.
