Prong setting problem- worth taking it to the jeweler?

Hello!

I've been reading many posts on this forum, and I know there are people who will help me with this problem :)

I got my ring few weeks ago, 6-rpong solitaire, and everything's good except that I've noticed one of the prongs has a bit of a gap from the crown. It's not noticeable unless I look up close. I searched online and found websites that describe potential prong problems:

I don't think the problem I have here quite fit with any of the problems listed.

Here are some pictures. The prong in question is the left-most prong. You can see (I hope) that there's a small gap. Basically, the girdle isn't sitting snugly in the "hook" of the prong, it touches the prong just a tiny bit below. The diamond does not move at all. I haven't worn it enough to see if it snags my clothes but so far that hasn't happened.

Should I still take it to the jeweler to fix it? Is it easy to fix, without compromising the original setting as everything else tight?

Thanks!!

That kind of thing drives me nuts. So yes, I would ask them to fix it. The prong tip should rest on the stone.

I would get it adjusted to fit snugly, otherwise, a simple thread or pull could loosen the prong enough and put the diamond at risk of moving in the setting. With 6 prongs, not likely to fall out, but it should be resting on the notches, not above. Take it in for the bench to adjust it.

Thanks! Would you happen to know if this is a hard problem to fix or relatively easy? I asked some jewelers over the phone about how much it would cost but they couldn't tell me without seeing it. Before I take it to the store I'm just wondering if this will be a costly repair? and it's ok to have it done not with the original jeweler?

The original jeweler should fix it for free!

Absolutely would have that fixed! ;)) And as DS already stated, the vendor should do it for free. Your ring looks beautiful btw....have you started a SMTB thread?

I bought it from an online vendor and they will fix it for free, but I would have to mail it back, wait for a week or two, and then the delivery, while worrying about the shipment and if I'm still not satisfied with it I have to do it again.

I will take it to the local jewelry store to get a quote- if it's not too expensive I might just get it fixed there.

Christina- I haven't posted anything about the ring. It is indeed a beautiful ring, that's why I'm a little scared that any repairing might ruin it more. Here are some hand shot. It's 1.2ct, H, SI1, excellent cut, on a size 4 finger.
