Hi ,

I have my diamond (.42 carat, H, SI1, WF ACA) but I''m having trouble deciding on the best setting to show the stone...and would appreciate some guidance....here goes:

1) I''ve read that diamonds show more sparkle in a prong setting which allows more light to reach the pavillion as this light will be reflected back to the table. Is this true?

2) I quite like the thin bezel setting which can help a smallish stone look a tad bigger. If the stone is set high enough in the bezel, will the ''light-factor'' be the same as in a prong setting?

3) I''m also open to a slide pendant vs one with the attached chain like the WF Martini style pendant. From reading other posts, it sounds like although the attached pendants can be more prone to flipping or riding up the side of the neck, I read that this can be minimized by using a flexible chain with ''roundish'' links and by using the ''right'' shape and placement of the ''ears''

.... not sure what this means? Does anyone have any problems with their chain-attached pendant?

4) Here are some pendant styles I''m considering...I know it''s really down to personal preference, but...whatdayathink?

Thanks in advance!

Very much a personal choice but for a pendant I think I personally would go for style a)

I like the 4 prong look it appeals to me

I like the bezel, particularly for pendants. A well cut stone does not need light entering from the side to help it look better. An ACA will reflect all the light coming in from the top right back at you, so you don''t have to worry about the bezel covering up the sparkle. The stone cannot be set "high" in the bezel. The diamond sits in a seat in the bezel with the collet going around the girdle with a small section of metal covering a very tiny part of the crown facets. You can still use a slide with the bezel setting. This is what I have done with mine, so I am naturally biased towards that.

Jeanne,

I don''t know any more than you do, however, if you are interested in opinions, I like A.

It just "spoke" to me more than the other 2.

Hi, I have a .41 pendant that is set into a four prong and I love the style. My second pendant is a .38 and set into a bezel. Both are pretty, but if you happen to have stud earrings, I''d go with a style that matches them and if not, go with the four prong as it''s classic.
