When I am talking about what color diamond I want, do I say "Up to H" or "Down to H" if I my color range is D-H? Similarly, do I say "no lower than H" or "no greater than H"?

I ask because I indicated to a vendor that I wanted "up to H", and they suggested a couple of J diamonds so I thought maybe I was phrasing it wrong.

Thank you!

IMHO, I'd say down to H, but to be even more clear I'd say something like F through H.

I agree.

I''m pretty sure you say "down to H," along with, or, "no lower than H." Still, as suggested, it''s better to state an exact grades, like D-H.

Is your range D-H? That is quite a span and there is a huge difference between D and H, both color and price wise. Can you narrow the gap a bit?

Ditto.

At the other end of the alphabet where yellow diamonds become more rare, going up beyond Z also happens when one gets into fancy yellow, etc...

My realistic range is really closer to G - H, but if a higher color stone with greater inclusions but eye clean was presented to me nearer to colorless I could get would be nice bonus, but not necessary.

Thanks for everyone''s contribution.

I said "no lower than H" and that seemed to go ok.

I "accidentally" ended up with an E though
