Hi everyone - I''m new to this site/forum. I''m going to be proposing to my g/f next thursday. We are leaving for Las Vegas mid-afternoon, and I''ve arranged to have a limo pick us up with champagne and roses, followed by a romantic dinner.

I''m just stuck at what part to propose to her. Many are saying I should have the pilot or stewardess make the announcement over the intercom - but I''m not sure that would work - since I want to be down on bended knee.

The other idea I had was to propose in the limo when the setting is more private. It''s not that we''re one way or the other really, private, or public, she''ll feel at ease.

She just said before that a proposal in a restaurant is boring... so... Any ideas are greatly appreciated! - J

I think with security the way it is these days, you probably wouldn''t be able to get the pilot or stewardess to make an announcement. However, if they feed you on the plane maybe you can put the ring in the little dessert tray they have sometimes?

I think you could get them to make the announcement- when you are coming back from the bathroom and you could get on your knee and do it as you have thought.
I got engaged in Vegas - he did it at the Voodoo Lounge in the Hotel Rio, they have a huge balcony overlooking the strip and it is really nice.

I''d prefer something more private...I think the limo idea sounds nice, you can let something drop on the floor and then drop to your knee...or if there is a sunroof, convince her to stick her head out of it, and then when she comes back in, you could be on one knee.

Good luck and congratulations in advance!

You could go to the Fontana Bar in the Bellagio and gt a table outdoors overlooking the fountains--we sat there every night and it is so beautiful and romantic!

Celo626 I have the perfect idea for you!!!! I think you should go through the whole night without saying anything. Strectch out the suspense. I jnow I love surprises, but if you start expecting what''s coming it doesn''t hve the same effect. Get in the limo, act surprised that you got such a romantic limo (say something like someone canceled their reservation and you got to be lucky and use that romantic limo), then go to your romantic dinner and enjoy it...but don''t propose yet. Then say you want to walk off your dinner and go to the Bellagio water fountain (its gorgeous, there is music playing and the water fountain splashes in beat with the music) You can get on one knee as the water flow gets at its climax and that is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think she will be caught off guard because her attention would be focused on the show, so that is a great surprise. I was in Vegas in March and trust me that is the most romantic spot!!!!!
GOOD LUCK and Congratulations
Lisette

PS: I attached a picture of the Bellagio water fountain so you can see how beautiful it is

Yes the Bellagio is the perfect spot, Jenn's right!!!! Sooooo romantic!!!!

Wow! Thanks for all the support and ideas! :) I contacted the hotel I''m staying at to see if they could do anything special. Unfortunately, they cannot place anything in our room prior to our arrival. I inquired as to longstem roses, and they want $177 for them, which is just way too steep, after what I paid for the ring on Saturday.

They did offer to work the proposal into their Lau Au (sp?) which would have been nice, but a little less than ideal situation. I''d really like to do something public, but I just don''t know how to work it all in on a travel day.

We''re flying (from CT) at 3, and arriving in Vegas at 5:30 - figure the limo ride with tour will be 1 1/2 hours, so that puts us at the hotel around 7, and then we have dinner reservations at 8:30. I guess there''s time for a quick stroll to the fountains....?

Thanks again for everyone''s help - please keep the ideas coming! - celo626

Can you change your dinner reservation to a restuarant in the Bellagio? I recommend Prime if you like steak--the best steak I have ever had and I''ve had it at all the best NYC steakhouses! You could go to the Fontana Bar, have a pre-dinner drink outside (this balcony is RIGHT in front of the fountains--you can feel the mist on your face--it''s wonderfully romantic) and then go to dinner there. Circo is great for Italian and Shinatao is awesome for Japanese--both sushi anmd traditonal Hibachi. I like the drama kaleigh built in--wait until you get to cocktails and then pop the question..then you have dinner to celebrate!

This is easy. Since you said you like a public proposal, here goes....

1. While in the air, have the pilot make an announcement that someone lost an engagement ring, so have everyone look around.
2. After a quick 5 seconds, the pilot says....Please Mr. Celo626, check your under your seat # (tell him your seat number) This is when you get down on your knees and pretend to look,
3. next...the pilot says, Mr. Celo626 do you have anything to say? Then you do what you gotta do and bam...it''s done, the whole plane

4. You two live happily ever after.

How simple is that?

I think no matter what you do, it will be great! With that being said...

I was recently in Vegas for the first time and was not with my fiance (was there for work). The whole time I was there I kept think how romantic the whole place was (at least the strip was) at night and was wishing my man was there. I say have a nice dinner and spoil her, but don''t set an exact place or time to propose. Just do it when you feel/ think you should. Maybe take a walk to on the strip at night (it''s way too hot in the daytime right now) and just do it when you think it''s perfect. That way you can totally catch her off guard. Just my 2 cents.

I can''t wait to hear what you do! Cheers!

The bar in Paris at the Eiffel tower is mucho romantic. Quiet, with a view of the belaggio fountain and the strip. If you don''t propose there, I highly recommend you go there afterward.

Good luck.

Ohh!! I love Vegas! What a great place to pop the question!

You have great suggestions so far. But, what about the gardens in Bellagio? I have to say that that is one of the most beautiful/romantic parts of Vegas. It is absolutely breathtaking in there...there''s music, and it smells amazing!!! A room full of flowers!!!!How can you get any better than that????

Limo is a cute idea, but I would actually wait till you are there...there are so many amazing places to do this...Good luck! Let us know what happens!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone - thanks so much for all the input!! I''m seriously considering having the limo driver stop for the fountain show, and then I can get out and propose. (I wrote a poem about our relationship, which starts out funny - but then gets serious - so she won''t suspect it) Then at the end, the last line, of course, is "Will you marry me" and I''ll be down on one knee with the ring in the box for her. :)

I can''t wait - I''m a bundle of nerves! I just hope the limo driver is kind enough to stop there for us for a bit, and that I don''t have any issue at airport security with the ring/box!

Thanks again everyone!

Celo - looks like you''re leaving for Vegas today. Good luck on your proposal & be sure to remember to HAVE FUN while you are there!!!!
