Quadex stud specs

Thx @lovedogs! Ppl say black carbons are bad and that things on the table are bad ... but ultimately all advice is general, and we have to judge each stone for what it actually is ...

I started this stud search with the idea of, "Oh, I'll get some small modest 0.30 J color studs and then possibly upgrade later." But slowly I've come around to, "Why not do the right purchase the first time around. Take the time, do the research, and get studs that aren't going to feel like unfinished business." :kiss2:

Also, I often find BN "astor" cuts overpriced for what they are (similar to "true hearts" from JA). Some are great, but often not worth the premium, especially compared to true super ideal vendors like WF, BGD, VC, etc.

THAT makes sense. That Astor line seems to have wild variability whereas the BGD and WF lines are so uniform.

And who is VC? Thx!

Does BN send ASET images on request? Or do you have to do that yourself once you order the stones? Thanks!

Sometimes they can get ASET images. Depends on the stone(s). You need to ask them (BN).

This is a general question, but has anyone purchased both “ideal” and “super ideal” diamonds? You must notice a difference. How do you decide whether or not to purchase one over the other?

This whole diamond purchase journey has so many variables, and I’m wondering how ppl navigate that. What makes your purchase “mind clean?”

Right now, there are so many cheaper stones - mined & lab - which technically can fit all the specs, so why am I still so curious about owning a teeny pair of signature cut studs - which I won’t even be able to see since they’ll go on my ears, no less!

But also know I’m a math-science whiz who loves numbers and technicalities. And the BGD signature videos hypnotize me with their thoroughness, not to mention each stone’s showcased optics.

All help, insight and advice are appreciated! :kiss2:

It depends on the project for me. Some projects, like for unsentimental pieces that I don't plan on wearing every day, I'm okay with not having the best of the best. But if these were going to be my everyday earrings, I would go for the super ideal cuts.

Ah, @Kim N - you are not only smart and articulate but also wise! May you always enjoy the best of the best! :kiss2:

Vrai has (1.5ctw lab) Asscher studs set NSEW. I would do this setting for quadex studs. The exposed corners would be safe on my ears. But I would be worried the prongs might overwhelm a smaller stone. https://www.vrai.com/jewelry/earrin...ite-gold&goldPurity=14k&ringSize=0.75ct&qty=2

It depends on the project for me as well. I prefer brightness over fire and scintillation for earrings. I’m drawn to 60/60 flat tops that face up white over disco balls. I’d rather wear those on my wrists and hands where I can see them.

I got a pair of lab studs in the size I like to wear every day. I can reuse the setting if I want to upgrade to a mined stones later.

I recommend getting a CZ stud set with different sizes and shapes to test out.

So helpful @chere! Yes, I love how that setting for asscher/quadex stones accentuates their shape. And I was also thinking, “What’s the use of great signature stones if I can’t enjoy them?”

(Granted, with unlimited funds, I’d stick signature stones on the back of my head, but that’s another day.)
Also nice to know I’m not the only one ordering cz’s off Amazon with the sole purpose of help-me-choose-real-diamonds.
