Yes that is exactly what I have been trying to describe. I wasn't sure about the exact terminology. We sent LM images of rings with tapered shanks and explained that was the look we were going for with regards to the shank, and after that he changed the work order to 'raised straight' style shank (prior to that the work order said the shank would be 'uniform'). He also included one of the images of a tapered shank solitaire I had sent him on the work order.

When I spoke with him I didn't repeat 'tapered' but he said he thought he understood what I wanted, so now I'll just wait and hope for the best!
