Hi Psers,
I have a diamond that I am thinking of selling ,how much can I expect to get for it ? 1ct ,uncertified excellent recut by BGD ,estimated O/P color,VS2 clarity . Thanks for any help .

BG might be a good person to ask. The lowest color I see priced on the price search is a GIA XXX K VS2 at about $3600-4000. So O-P VS2 is going to be lower than that. Not sure how much lower.

Thanks diamondseeker ,
do BGD buy pre owned diamonds ? any other vendors who buy them ?

Have you/would you consider getting it certified? I think you will be able to ask more for it.

Edit - if you go under the Tools menu you will see a button that says Sell your diamond.
I think you are going to have a hard time selling to a vendor without a cert because they
Really don't know what the stone is.

tyty ,
unfortunately when I had it recut , I did not ask BGD to send it to GIA to be certified . should I send it to an appraiser ? I have all the measurements & cut info+ideal scope+ hearts & arrows images .the only thing I dont have is the true color/clarity . only estimated ones from BGD .

GIA accepts work directly from anyone. Instructions on how to submit stones directly are on the GIA website at www.gia.edu.. An appraisal may be helpful here but it's not necessary for this step if you want to do it yourself.

By the way, was resale your objective when you got it recut? If so, did you discuss these issues with BGD at that time? What did they have to say?

1.02 P VS2 GIA Good VG VG M N 6.50x6.59x3.77 $2544 $2595
1.03 N VS2 GIA X X N N 6.42x6.47x4.02 $2315 $2385

Looks like there was an N and a P color on the list. Both about $2500'ish at Pricescope retail. The N color is a triple X GIA and the P is a little less well cut. Retail price is in red.

Expect less to sell yours to a dealer, likely about 1/2.

devonappraiser ,
Thanks for the GIA link .
No, resale was not my intent when I had it recut . .it was an old RB diamond and the cut/color had always bothered me .after the recut it has improved a lot ,still I do not like the color .not many people will want an RB with this low color I think.

Thanks for the links .I guess I will not sell it after all as I will not get much for it !

Maybe set it in a yellow gold bezel or something to play up the color???

Rose gold bezel, maybe with a white outer bezel, for a brown tint stone, and a yellow inner bezel for a yellow tint stone
