I''m hoping to find a new job soon, and I''m REALLY hoping that I''ll find one in my area of study and interest, which is equine related. I''d really like to get a position on a farm. The thing about it is, most farms don''t post job openings on their site, so you may not know about them. My question is this.... in that kind of case, would you simply fax your resume around to the different farms in your prospective area, and hope that someone calls? Should I call before hand to see if they have openings? We''re talking hundreds of farms in my area now. Should I just fax the resume and include a letter stating what I''m looking for? HELP

start asking around about who is needing help.
Those types of jobs always and I mean always get filled by word of mouth.
When you find out about someone hiring then call and say Mr. Doe said you may be hiring for such and such a position if this still available?
Then if they say yes they are hiring arrange to go out there in person.
How you are with the animals will get you the job or not.
There is no way faxing a resume is going to do that.
Best advice is hang out where they hang out, introduce yourself to a lot of people and ask about openings.
Local feed stores are a great place to start asking as are vet offices.
Being willing to lend a hand when needed will open a lot of doors and mouths too.

Excellent advice, Strm
