Due to some diligent research and education from this forum. I have finally picked out a great diamond and in the process saved myself a few hundred dollars. The setting I'm buying is the ArtCarved Elena. My local jeweler has a very comparable price to online retailers on the 14kt and 18kt version of this setting. The 18kt is about $450 more than the 14kt. Unfortunately, the platinum version is almost $2000 (locally) over the 14kt version, whereas online it is about $1000 over the 14kt version. Since I saved some money on the diamond I was thinking of going with the 18kt or maybe even the platinum (online price). Unfortunately, the jeweler told me I must get the setting and mounting done in the same place as to not void the warranty. Anyone else know if this claim is accurate?
