question about shipping my stone

I am shipping my stone for Daniel M to make a setting and mount it. I went ahead and insured it with jewelers mutual. I plan to send it USPS. Do I need to insure the package? Confirmation of package? What do you usually do?

I usually mail gemstones via registered (with insurance) when using USPS. I decline the confirmation receipt as I can track it via their website even though the tracking is usually not up to date (1 day late in showing the updates).
