Question about $ value on a AGS Princess Cut

I've been lurking and researching this forum for quite some time. But now the time has come where I need some one on one expert advice. One of my real good friends works in a jewelry store and as I requested he has found me a AGS certified stone. Unfortunately, it is not an ideal, it's an excellent. To make the situation worse I've only seen the diamond in pictures and a video since he does not live nearby. These are the specs:

Color: I (I really hope I can't see yellow in a white gold setting)
Cut: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Clarity: VS2
Size: 1.10ct

Prize: ~$5600

I went to a jewler today and for the same price they showed me a very similar GIA diamond.
Size: 1.02ct
Color: I
Clarity: VS1-VS2 (Can't remember exactly)

They also had a G AGS0 I compared with. The AGS0 was definitely more fiery, but the GIA held its own very well (There were others that looked like duds next to it). I also couldn't tell much of a color difference between the AGS G and the GIA I. Then again once in a setting that could change.

So am I getting a good deal? Secondly, if the GIA I looked good to me, should I expect similar color performance out of a AGS I?

Thanks again

Can you post pics, video, report?

Sorry about that. I've attached the certificate. I have a video on my laptop, unfortunately in some proprietary iTunes format. Either way I'll attach it when I get home.

Thanks

I also found these two in my budget:

Pros:
Ideal Cut
Better color than the ring from my friend
better clarity

Cons:
Slightly smaller
Don't really like the table percentage

Also this one...http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2565659.htm

Pros:
Price
Even better color
better clarity than the ring from my friend
pretty good ideal scope and aset
Good table and depth

Cons:
I really don't like the polish and symmetry values
Crown height percentage

I really like the second one because of the price. What do others think? and how do these two compare to the original (in the first post)?

Thanks again.

These pros and cons are not useful, it will not help you figure out which one you will like the most in real life.

Regarding the AGS 1 your friend has, it is probably very nice. I can't tell you which of these you would like the best. Any way to have them shipped out to you to see in person?

Unfortunately, the only ones I can see in person are the ones from my local jeweler. I was able to get them to give me a GIA I color 1.02 ct VS2 stone for the same price as my friend. Setting and all included. It did look pretty good next to the AGS 0 they had in stock. So now the dilemma is whether I go with the local stone, or for the same price get the one from my friend. Before I make my decision I guess I should go back to the jeweler and have them lay the GIA I stone in a white gold setting, so I can see the color difference in person.

You have a very curious AGS report. A princess from February 2005 would be one of the very earliest princesses graded under the new AGS system. The early 2005 reports did not have the deductions on the right flap, that was not until later, and a very short-lived style. You might make a new thread, John Pollard nee Quixote, might know more, about the AGS reports and deductions. I wonder if it did NOT get 1s for finish, would the .94 deduction for light performance then become a 0, or a 1?
