I'm hoping to catch Harriet's eye as I know she "hangs" around here. Are you there, Harriet?

I'm wondering how your experience with Mc2 is/has been? I've got my eye on a vintage style cushion diamond and am looking for a really wonderful setting. I'm fairly simple and traditional and I know that the Mc2 settings are often more elaborate but they really speak to me-especially the Flora. I always admired your original setting and BostonJeff's similar one from Leon and am wondering how things are going with Mc2? I'm assuming they can do simple, clean lines? What's your take so far?

I recall that your thread about the problems with your setting was a bit of a hot topic but I have never quite had Leon on my list of potential crafts people. I just don't think our personalities would mesh and I'm one of those odd birds who prefers 18k gold to platinum.

Any insight you have into the process of choosing a setting and an artist might be helpful. Trusting you are well.

Gayle-

Do tell! What is Mc2? I took chemistry. Somehow I don't think the answer lies on the Periodic Table!

That video should be outlawed! I wanted to buy everything I saw flash by me! (And I think I've seen it before, too.) Thanks, Freke!

Aren't they gorgeous, Deb? I haven't even seen them in person and I can't stop drooling!

At your service, ma'am! :)

Mc2 was closed for vacation during March and have just returned to work. As such, I will be dropping off my diamond soon. Tim McClelland is a gifted goldsmith and can indeed do simple and clean. I couldn't work with him otherwise.

With respect to personality, the Mcs are the most mellow people I've ever met.

I tend to play with my stones for a while, and wait for the "aha!" moment. Tim is a perfectionist who does exquisite work. I have known him and his counterpart for a while, and know that they will make my e-ring with pure intention and kindness (cue violin music).

Hope all's well on your end.

I have and they are fantastic! But they were even 50% off at my jeweler and I couldn't afford them!

I am really glad I caught this thread. What diamond are we talking about here, Harriet?

Thanks, so much, Harriet. I had assumed that Tim could do most anything and that you would be looking for clean lines, also. I love his bloomed yellow gold-I could just eat it up. Even though I will probably do a cushion in white gold or platinum, I'm going to have to have some of that YG!

Steve will be in NY next week so I may have him go to their showroom (I assume that's what it is?) there. I would be working with them on the phone and online but it sounds like they are good communicators and that it should be doable. What do you think? And I love the "pure intention and kindness"-I want to swoon when I look at my ring, and not just because of the way it looks.

I am well. Crazy busy so I haven't been online much lately. I'm teaching a class at my kids' school which has really tightened up my schedule but I just love it. It energizes me.

Trying to make some time for my jewelry obsession!

Deb,
The one that spins, remember?

Hey Gayle,
I'm happy you're doing something you love. I can't believe that you have to squeeze out time for jewellery. :)
Mc2's showroom is in MA. I'd suggest that Steve make an appointment to meet one of them in their NY office. I should think working with them long-distance won't be a problem. They're based in a little town and probably have a good number of long distance customers.
Have you seen their honeycomb bracelet? Sign. This link is more user-friendly, I think: www.mc2jewels.com/gallery

No way, they're in my neck of the woods! I'm going to have to take a little trip, I do believe. :lickout:

You may want to consider Steven Kirsch as well. So far .. he has done some very good work comperable to Leon but without the personality.

Yeah...I just wanted to know if it was the 3 carat e-ring stone that I've been coveting for longer than I care to remember....

Hello again, Harriet. One last question about Mc2: is there anyone in particular I should talk to when I call or is everyone there good at what they do?

Thanks!

Hi! It's really no imposition. I'd asked for Tim, as he's the designer.
