I've been researching for a reset project for some time and am now considering having the new ring sized to wear on the right hand. I have a nerve condition that causes a lot of sensitivity and periods of pain in my left hand and ring finger. I'm sad to do it but I think I have to give up on the idea of wearing multiple rings on the left hand. I am right handed, however, and am wondering if wearing a diamond ring on the right hand would cause more damage. Do you think it would get a lot of wear and tear on the right hand?

i am right handed, have always worn mine on my RH, never had any problems except when taking a handshot

I have a RHR which is in a solitaire style but has prongs diamond on the band. It kinda interrupts my finger during writing time (but the same irritation would happens on left hand too, but just that right hand has more frequency of irritations since I use my right hand more). It just need a bit of getting used to. And it is all fine now

I have a 5-stone trellis ring as a RHR and I do notice that I worry about it more since the girdles on the diamonds are exposed. When I reach into my purse searching for keys, etc. I worry about chipping and I have noticed that the platinum on the band has become MUCH more scratched than my e-ring on my left hand. But I still wear it, though not every day as I do feel like it does get in the way of my daily life.

It stands to reason that a ring worn on the favored hand will get more wear and tear.

Of course just because the odds of damage go up does not mean it will get damaged.
Similarly a ring worn on the non-favored had could be damaged too.

If you are greatly concerned about diamond damage perhaps consider a more protective setting like a full bezel.

I've worn rings on both hands - diamond, and otherwise - for my entire life. I haven't noticed a significant amount of difference in the damage suffered. If you have any particular reason to be concerned (thin girdle or somesuch), I'd second Kenny's suggestion of a bezel, or some other protective setting: otherwise, reset your ring so you can wear it comfortably, insure it, and enjoy it.

I have a 5 stone u-prong on my right hand. I've worn it daily since I got it a few months ago. I worry about the exposed girdles but that has nothing to do with what hand I wear it on. I always have worn a ring on my right hand. Usually colored stones though, but this one was reward for weight loss so I wear it to remind myself of that. :)

Thank you for all your feedback ladies. It makes sense that rings worn on the dominant hand will take a bit more abuse. I love bezels so the idea to design a low profile bezel setting is a good one. I think my problem is that I want to wear the ring on the left... My body just won't cooperate! My right hand is also a whole size larger than the left so switching hands doesn't really work for me. I'll have to think more about this.
