Hello all! I''m in the process of hashing out what I want for my e-ring and wedding band, and I''m pretty much set on having both half eternity with a six prong setting on the e-ring. I just wanted to know if it is possible for a six prong to sit flush with a wedding band, as this is something I would really like. I was talking to my jeweler about my plans and she indicated that a six prong would not sit flush with a wedding band, and I''d have to get a four prong if I wanted the rings to fit together - is this true? Any pictures of six prong settings that sit flush with a wedding band would be much appreciated! Thanks!

all depends on where the prongs start from because of that one prong that sits in the center of your finger...

the prongs start very low, likely no flush fit without a curve in the wedding band.

The prongs start much higher, and the band can probably snug up against the ring below the prong.

uggh, I feel your pain...
I too want a 6 prong head badly with a semi eternity set that will sit flush.

BUT to help you out--what I was told if you do a peg head style then a 6 prong can sit flush, but an integrated head it gets tricky and most sets don''t.

I have a thread somewhere showing my old 6 prong and wedding band and the space between them - it''s not a huge gap, but if you really want them snug it might drive you nutty. The thread is titled "6 prong to a full bezel setting, a comparison" I think...I''m sure you can find a ton of profile shots on the main thread of set pics and i think there are threads with pictures of this exact thing too...

You can find a 6 prong that will work, but it may be more expensive than the classic style you are looking for...

Okay, here's a thread I started back during my solitaire search that has a lot of options. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/solitaire-setting-search-in-progress-thoughts-opinions-help.93826/

And boy does it make me laugh now, because I insisted on a 6 prong flush fit, and I ended up with an 8 prong with a wee gap between rings, LOL!

Anyway, if you want a flush fit with a 6 prong, options are:

Go the peg head route, meaning the head sits on top of the shank, like this (photo courtesy of PSer LadyLuvsLuxury). She's also got the head turned, so that there isn't that prong pointing out at the bottom, which totally helps with the flush fit too!

Another option is to go with a cathedral setting, which will often be set high enough to allow for a pretty close fit. Here's Kelli's:

geckodani--thanks for the thread--I''m sure Blueberrydot will appreciate it too!

Do you know if you go the peg head route--is that usually sitting pretty high since its on top of the ring, or can you get that to sit low and squatty if you will?
Thanks and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Mine does. The band was custom made to sit flush.

Sometimes I like the flush setting, sometime I prefer the small & delicate bands that don''t sit flush. The grass is always greener.....
