I am looking at a radiant cut diamond for an engagement ring. The one I am contemplating buying is $13400. 1.90 carat. H Color. IF Clarity. No Fluorescence. 7.01x6.94x4.73. Table 64%. Depth 68.1%. Excellent Polish and Symmetry based on GIA report. Is this a good stone? Or would you recommend something else? I don't want to spend more than 15K on a stone.

This is a picture of the stone.

I am also looking for a radiant cut diamond. All that i have read on this forum and researched is that you cannot evaluate a fancy cut by "numbers" alone. you have to actually see the diamond in person to decide. If you live close to the seller not too much of a problem but if you are like me, and not close, it becomes problematic to bring in a stone or stones to compare and there is cost to travel and for the seller to bring these stones in. you have to trust your seller to bring in a good stone or at least that is what i have gleaned from my preliminary discussion with several of the trusted vendors on this site (and yes i have bought diamonds before from a one these vendors before...just not a radiant cut). some have suggested other technologies may be helpful such as ASET, but again, even with that you have to see the stone.

It looks nice...If you like it then it sounds like a good deal. Here are a few other options. If you like one of these you should put it on hold so no one else snatches it up. Also, JA has recently come out with videos on their stones, so if you really like one, I'd see if they could show you a video of it. I didn't see any of these on their new site but I'm sure they're still getting everything put in the system. With anything other than a round, the cut and faceting of the stone will depend on what you like. When I think radiant, I imagine something more princess like with lots of faceting but more rectangular...so it's up to what appeals to you and what will have the best light performance.

The faceting looks lovely. Have you seen it in person?

I like the depth and table too....so hard to find a more shallow cut radiant these days under 70%. I had a 2.1c radiant with similar depth and table and it had the brilliant cut faceting and was a great make. Received lots of compliments on it too as it faced up 8.9mm x 6.6mm. There was no crushed ice appearance either ...like the faceting of your stone. The stones posted above from JA have that crushed ice faceting...some people like that but I prefer the faceting of your stone. would be nice to get the ASET image to see if there is much leakage.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Not awful. Is there an ASET image?

This is a little smaller, 15.4K with PS wire discount: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS1-Very-Good-Cut-Radiant-Diamond-1444702.asp

It is a very specific type of radiant, here is a nice video that compares lots of different shapes and cut styles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYvv2BAIFaY

That's a great one!!! The one's at GOG that are officially labelled "jubilee princess diamond" are SO much more expensive! This is a great/gorgeous find!!! You really should put this one on hold and ASAP!! Unless you just love your stone so much. But stones like this with arrows tend to perform better (if that's what you're looking for).

Wow, that's really pretty! It reminds me of Brian Gavin Quadex: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond/brian-gavins-quadex/

Doesn't seem like BGD carries them anymore though.

looks like a nice diamond with nice edge brightness and a little table light leakage.

It is a nicely symmetrical stone to me. I would want to see the ASET image, if possible. I like that it has a 7mm diameter. I would not go smaller than that.
