I have a goal to purchase a 3ct radiant diamond. I am able to find numerous sites that offer specifictions for ideal to very fine cut diamonds, but I''m not sure if a radiant cut diamond should be square or rectangle. One site described a radiant cut as a "emerald" with facets another sites compares a radiant to a princess... so my question is .. should a radiant be square or rectangle or is it a matter of preference?? Thanks!!!

HI Abbott,
It's completely a matter of individual taste.
There is no such a thing as an "Ideal" cut radiant.
Therefore, if someone claims that there are specifications which define a radiant cut as "ideal' it's just a matter of opinion.

Which do you like better- square stones, or rectangular stones.
Things to keep in mind:
1)The shape of your hand/fingers
2) the type of rig you want to put the diamond into.
Certain hands look better with square stones.
If you're considering a 3 stone ring, there are ceertaint shapes that look better with a square, and others with a rectangle.
Both square and rectangular radiant cut diamonds can be very beautiful.
