I recently became engaged with a one of a kind platinum halo ring that unfortunately is much larger than my ring finger (the ring is a size 7 while my size is 5.5). I went to 47th street in NYC to have sizing beads put in because I didn''t want to disturb the setting of the halo.
I didn''t have a very pleasant experience with the jeweler who was recommended to me by a coworker. He was slightly pushy and insisting on me placing three sizing beads into my ring versus two. I put my foot down and insisted on two sizing beads which he put in and at the time in the shop fit perfectly. The ring went over the knuckle with some effort and came off the finger with some effort.
However, as soon as a came home and subsequently two weeks after the sizing beads were put in, the ring has felt way too loose. I was making my bed the other night and the ring managed to slip off my finger with a slight shake of the hand.
I was wondering if the sizing beads can be removed and replaced with bigger ones without causing damage to the ring? Can anyone recommend a good jeweler that is comfortable working with platinum in the nyc area?
I would greatly appreciate any help or advice

Taking up a size and a half with sizing beads is a lot. Who is the manufacturer of the ring? I would start by reconsidering your decision not to size the piece and I would start that decision with a call or visit to the place where you got it.

The ring was purchased over seas and is one of a kind. I don''t mind large sizing beads, esthetically they don''t bother me. I would just like to take off the existing ones and replace them with slightly larger sizing beads.
