I mean the pavilion angle is a little too large for the crown angle, this will result in some leakage in the stone resulting in a less brilliant stone. If you are still interested in that stone, request an IS image from JA and ask them to check if the stone is eye-clean.

Going smaller, you can get an AGS0 cut graded stone and better color and clarity. But you will still need to ask about if the stone is eye-clean.

wow thanks that was very insightful; now i just need a setting for the diamond you recommended

Bridetobe, as we said above, you won''t find one within your budget - if the stone is $1410, that leaves $590 for the setting (not even accounting for sales tax). That simply won''t be possible with platinum, unless you happen to find what you want secondhand.

Are you open to 18kt white gold?

upgradable''s platinum one is $599 - that''s close.

I haven''t read all the posts about your specs but I know you are trying to find a nicely cut stone for $1500. Without knowing the color and clarity you are aiming for I''ll just post this link. It will be a stunning stone. 0.64ct J SI1

This is just in case you haven''t already found what you are looking for.

That would be perfect if it could fit the .64 stone that''s in-budget.

Please don't forget there are lots of well cut GIA graded diamonds out there, AGS0 isn't the only way to find a well cut diamond!

Trellis for $690 at Knox. In white gold though. You're going to have to compromise somewhere. If you're set on platinum and want the largest stone possible then maybe the simple $490 JA platinum setting is for you.

Where are you willing to compromise?

Ooh, that''s GORGEOUS! I''m not often a fan of knox settings, but I really, really love this one.

Yup, agreed.
