fashion no-no?

i''m going to a friend''s evening wedding at a country club in a few weeks and i wanted to wear a red dress that i already have, it''s a dark red sleeveless tea length dress bordering on burgundy, i also recently purchased a pair of gold heels that i wanted to wear with them, but somehow it didn''t occur to me that every stitch of jewelry i have is a white metal, would this metallic pairing still work?

i couldn''t do it.

do you like gold jewelry at all? you might be able to just find some cheepy stuff to put on, but i think if you''re going with gold shoes, you gotta go with gold accessories. that''s just me though. my mom had this weird thing about never mixing metals that she passed on to me. grrrrr.

the dress sounds cute!!!!!

I think the pairing could work if your dominant accessories are in a matching shade: your watch and wedding set, etc., wouldn''t bug me if they didn''t "match" the sandals, but if you had a big necklace or earrings, I think they should coordinate, or at least not clash. Do you have pearls or beads that could work?

I think you will need some yellow gold accessories to make this look work. A pair of earrings and a necklace or bracelet should help, especially if they are on the medium to large size

Well made "fashion" jewelry could work.

I wouldn''t be able to do that either. I agree with risingsun... get some well made costume jewelry. That would complete the look.

I wouldn''t do it, it is different if the individual pieces have a bit of the silver and gold colors mixed in (for example, may be ok if your necklace and your watch had silver and gold tones, at least the tones are dispersed a bit), still not a fab. look but better in my opinion than just having all silver on top (your jewelry) and then gold at your toes.

how bout some pearls? to accessorize with?

I agree with everyone else.

There is some fun costume jewelry that is more bronze colored and that would be fun, too. Especially if you really don''t like gold to start with. Or you could do one of those "invisible" necklaces with some beads or something.

I''m not necessarily a matchy person, but I''d need to see the dress and shoes before saying one way or the other - got any pics for us?
