So, a couple of years ago, I bought this spinel...https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/red-orange-spinel.170064/
I sat on it for a while (no, not literally), trying to get to the point where I would make the high carat yellow gold halo I had pictured for it, but I kept buying used settings for other stones, and this one kept getting neglected. Along came this Bez Ambar setting, preloved, from our very own Freke. I hemmed and hawed for a while, as the price was higher than I normally spend on a setting, but eventually, the Blaze diamonds tempted me enough that I just had to do it. I originally put a cornflower blue sapphire in the setting, which looked great colour-wise, but it was a round, and the setting was meant for a cushion, so I could see some metal peeking over the stone, and my OCD self couldn't handle it...lol. I kept resisting my flame spinel, because it was SUPPOSED to go in yellow gold, but the size matched, and with some encouragement from certain friends, I decided to go for it. And I'm pretty happy I did.
