Great thread.

I found PS thru google but I stayed because I love diamonds and the eye candy is unbelievable.

I think everyone here is supportive and kind. However, once in awhile someones feelings are going to get hurt because it is hard to communicate effectively when you are typing answers and not speaking face to face. Actually I feel that the members of this forum are true friends to op''s when they give their advice and opinions. I think some op''s ask for advice and counsel then don''t like the answers. But that doesn''t negate the fact that total strangers took their time to help a fellow PSer. This is a great community.

Holly - I enjoy your posts and hope you don''t leave!!

I found PS when I was googling to try and find a good Cartier Ballerine setting knock-off. Then I discovered Mark Morrell and kept coming back to find more of his gorgeous rings.

Next thing I knew I was on the LIW list and reading the BWW/SMTR/LIW forums daily. Now that a friend of mine has asked me to be her MOH and my own engagement is coming soon I have found the BWW forum to be a priceless source of information and inspiration. 450+ posts later here we are.

I have a feeling that once I am married I will become more involved with the FHH forum. Its hard to imagine not continuing to come back for some sort of information.

I joined this forum finally after about 2 years of lurking, I found this place by searching for celebrity erings on google of all places. I first became interested in diamonds because a friend from church had become engaged and I just was mesmerized by diamonds ever since, I was in the stage that the ring is pretty blah blah blah. I didn''t really know anything about them, i just knew I liked them. So unfortunately after my hubby gave me my ering, I found pricescope.....So ive been in the stage of knowing I don''t have the best quality ering and that was real hard for me at first but now Im over that, I will never get rid of my stones(3 stone ering)I love them and they mean soo much to me. Im just going to wait it out till I get an upgrade(who knows how long that might be) and put my other 3 diamonds into a necklace and earrings set. So, after my long rant, I joined pricescope bc I wanted to help ppl, look at all the gorgeous diamonds posted here and be able to comment on them, and bc i really like how friendly the community was, and bc i love diamonds, OH and also to maybe ask you guys a question about a diamond someday.....

Great thread!

How did you come across this community? I was browsing the internet trying to get edumacated on diamonds

What made you join? Everyone was extremely helpful to other newbies and PS members. I loved that the community had members from all phases of the diamond buying process and diamond industry.

What has kept you around? Although I have been hit and miss this year. I lurked ever so often and enjoyed that the same comraderie and helpfulness still existed that existed when I first came three years ago. I have dropped in and out of participating in many different forums but I know I can always come back (and be warmly welcomed) here at pricescope.

I didn''t read past the first page.

I joined because I was very unhappy with my engagement ring setting and looking for a way to reset it. I stubbled across the site, but don''t remember quite how. I lurked for a long time before posting, maybe from Spring 2005, that seems right.

I still haven''t figured out what to do about my engagement ring setting, but I care less about fixing it now. I mostly avoid the issue by not wearing the ring! One day I''ll have the money to fix it. First I need to get DH on board, he doesn''t want to change it because it''s my e-ring, but it really does need fixing before it falls apart.

I first joined PS about 9 years ago under a different name, and have been gone for a few years now. Since I am working with Wink, I decided to rejoin with a name that is a disclosure for who''s employee I am (so if I say something that makes you mad, you know who to complain to!
9.gif
).

Back when I originally joined, it was to search for a diamond for my then engagement ring. It''s how I met Wink, and eventually came to work for him.

This is an interesting thread!

How did you come across this community? I found out about it on a Makeup website that has a Weddings board, and it was mentioned so often in regard to e-rings that I came over out of curiosity.

What made you join? I lurked for about a month. I had already upgraded my engagement ring, so I joined to see just how badly we had gotten burned on it (Helzberg).

What has kept you around? Each time I have posted, everyone has been SO nice. Even when I tried to see how badly we had done with the engagement ring upgrade, the general response was "who cares if you love the ring." Which was nice to hear! And, everyone was very friendly and welcome...unlike some other boards/forums I have been on in the past.
Oh yeah, and the eye candy is big motivation for me to stay around!

I never opened this thread until today; it has been interesting to read!

I found PS about 4 years ago. I was dating someone and wanted to get engaged/married but he wasn''t ready. I googled something along those lines and found the LIW board. I hung around for about 6 months and the realtionship I was in ended.

I met my DH a little while after that and shortly after we got engaged, I lurked alot on the BWW board. After we were married I joined to post some wedding pics.

I stayed around because everyone here is so gosh darn nice!! Everyone is helpful and there is just a wealth of information and so much support. I mostly hang out in the Family Forum and the Hangout. I love PS and am glad I found it!

I found this place by doing searches for "Asscher diamonds" on Yahoo! when I was researching for my upgrade.

I joined because I thought it would be great place to get good advice (and to shamelessly show off my new ring!)

I stick around because I''m hoping to *connect* with other members over my love of diamonds and fine jewelry.

I''m a member of a few other forums, and this one is totally different, which I like.

I joined for the eye candy!!

Then i came here to be a LIW....then that didn''t work out ...then I met the REAL man of my dreams...and am an LIW again...and the list keeper...

I have also found a great network of friends here that I know I can turn to if I want a real HONEST opinion who are not afraid of telling me I am a douche.

Plus we have our own sanctuary here.....and hubby leaves me alone here while he surfs on his stock boards at night....its sad really...we both have the laptops in bed while are are chilling before bed....

I''m obviously a bit thick-I never even got the connection between your name and Wink! Slow pills for bee*

I found this site researching buying diamond stud earrings, actually the other site about diamonds that should not be named and found this one far superior.

Stayed because diamonds and gemstones are such a fascinating subject, and there was a wealth of information and informed and interesting people here whose brains can be picked. Also probably stayed for it''s strange to say, the relationships, people who are familiar through their personalities, finding out what they think of this particular LIW conundrum or what cupcakes they are baking, or what they think about the latest weird thing in the news, etc.
As probably someone else already said, there is something addicting about pricescope, the easy to use design, inclusive community, the wealth of educated consumers and also professionals willing with their to help educate us all, the fun topics, the amazing pics, you get the idea.
I probably won''t be stopping by as much as I used to (anniversary ring, check. Gemstone pendant necklace, check. Stud earrings, check) but I''m glad there is such as place as Pricescope for all my burning diamond and gemstone questions.

I started lurking in 2003 when my husband and I started talking about getting married. I officially became a member in 2005 to post my wedding set, but lurked for the most part. This year, I became enamored with colored diamond and colored stones. And finally came out of lurkdum.

I LOVE this place! I don''t know where else I can admire purdy sparklies and talk about jewelry with such enthusiasm.

Oh, and PS''ers are some of the nicest people I''ve come across. So helpful!

This IS a good thread (although I only have time to read the first and last page - I''ll go back and read everyone else''s stories when I have time this weekend.)

Well I joined when my boyfriend and I BROKE UP almost two years ago (kinda backwards from how it usually works, right?) and I was looking for information about a gemmology program I was going to sign up for (I wanted to know how the program was regarded by those in "the business") I ended up not taking the course (the math SCARED ME OFF!) and then the boyfriend and I got back together last year so I came back on asking some questions about stones when he gave me a promise ring (I still need to post photos of my little shooting star ring!). Ironically (and funny how it has now come full circle), learning about diamonds and jewellery while looking for an e-ring has reignited my interest and I am now thinking (again) of doing SOMETHING in the field (gemmologist or designer maybe? I don''t think we can afford the bench jeweller program I was planning on taking like, four years ago in Boston).

So look for posts from me asking "hey guys, what should I do?????" in the near future! LOL

Oh yeah - and uh, I love the purdy stones!!! MORE MORE MORE!

This is a fun thread!

I first heard about PS in a different forum for coloured stones. I wandered by, started reading and lurking. I can''t remember what made me sign up.

I mainly hang around the Coloured Stones and Jewelry forums. I love coloured stones and don''t relate to diamonds so much (other than my studs, and a small RHR ring, and the pendant I want, and add an OMC to the list as well...). I am mainly a lurker, since I don''t feel I have that much to contribute to the board. One thing I love about PS is that I can talk about my love of gemstones without being judged for it and actually being encouraged (or enabled...).

I don''t post as much as I would like to. I find it hard to keep track of the threads I have posted and new answers. I am rarely in the hangout threads, but I think I may show up around here a bit more often.

I guess this is a good place for a first time post!

I''ve been a lurker for a little while on the recommendation of a friend. I''m in the market for emerald cut diamonds, and PS has been such an amazing online resource. Everyone here seems great, so I''m looking forward to getting involved in discussions!

I saw this thread when it started, but forgot to reply.

I found PS in Jan ''07 when I was googling e-ring settings. We were about to get engaged and I really wasn''t sure what I wanted. I found the forums and started lurking, lurking, lurking and never joined. As much as I''m NOT shy IRL, I am more shy in online communities- not sure why. At any rate, I finally joined last August because there was a thread on something somewhat random that I knew about. I couldn''t not respond, so I registered. Once I registered, I figured I''d stick around and see what happened!

What has kept you around?

* Stimulating conversation.
* The stong personalities.
* Ireland is small-town in terms of jewellery. PS exposes me to many new styles and vendors I would have never encounters pre-PS.
* I love the strong women; talking about real issues and sharing experiences I have/have yet to encounter. I feel that is invaluable information. For example who knew the cling wrap had tabs on the side to keep it in the box. Who knew?
* So many more reasons.

PS. I wanna - I love your new avatar. It is a beautiful picure.

Thanks Steel!

My friend got engaged and I took one look at her ring and thought (what is that???
7.gif
) It had almost no sparkle, is brown with little flecks all through it.

I asked her more about the stone in question and she gave me a very blank look
emdgust.gif
, so we looked at her recipt (yup thats all the info she had) and it had a jumble of numbers : SI2-I,O-P, hmm....
emotion-40.gif
I googled something like that and found PS and the rest you could say is history! My SO is still kicking himself for introducing me to her.
11.gif

BTW: I have never let on that her ummm diamond is rather rubbishy and found out that its at least an Argyle ''Diamond'' so it''s Australian. I was quiet upset when she asked me why no-one compliments/comments on her ring, whereas everyone was fascinated by her CZ temp ring, I lied through my teeth and said they must have no taste!

Im soooooooooo glad that Ive found you all, you guys and gals are awesome!

I joined because I LOVE jewelry!!! Especially diamonds! But all of it really :)

I joined because I''m obsessed with perfectly cut diamonds. This was the only site that catered to individuals trying to learn as much as possible about the cut of all shapes of diamonds back in 2000 when I found it.
I keep coming back for the information so that I can extend my knowledge...and now that I am a stay at home mom I have time to read all of the forums...I think originally back in 2000 it was just Rockytalky. Now I''m addicted to the others as well...Show Me The Ring, etc. I just recently came upon Diamond Hangout.

I joined when my FI and I were looking for an ER. I received my little ACA in February of 2008 and have been addicted to PS ever since
9.gif
I enjoy the company even if I don't always post. So I plan on sticking around for sometime to come. I currently have been stalking the colored stone forum.....

hmm, i found ps by googling different information about diamonds, and has always led me back to pricescope, then I had changed my mind on different settings and shapes and diamonds all around, and wanted opionions,, now I''m just hooked on seeing jewelry pieces and seeking for more inspiration for other future projects, plus I''m not done with my final final ...forever upgrade yet but when I am I will probably leave PS, so I like to keep in the loop, and everyone has different experiences that could either mirror or very similar to others that could shed some light and help others with jewelry purchases. I have found old postings, that i find offensive when others go off on other''s opionions... but those were very old.

I have been here for a year now, and I want to say Thank You to the PS community, just for being such a wonderful place.
I came because I am a diamond junkie, but I stayed because of all the wonderful people I have *met*
I really do care about so many people on this forum.
I don''t *know* anyone, but I find myself rooting for you all.
Gypsy, it is good to have you *back* - I really missed you when you were gone.
All my Mommy friends, thanks for listening and sharing. I really enjoy communicating with you all!
Diamondfan, I miss your posts!
Dancingfire, even though I don''t participate, I love your "questions of the day"
Storm,Lorilei, Ellen, Kaleigh, Harriet, Coati, Freke, NF to name a few- I always enjoy learning the technical knowledge from you.

PS for me is also a great place for self reflection. I have learned a lot about myself here too. Some things that I like, and some things that I don''t, but I truly think that being part of this community has made me a better person (sappy, I know)
Guess I just wanted to say that PS is a great place and I really appreciate being a part of it.
So thanks!
