Harriett!!! Wish you could join us!!!We miss you!
I''ll be back. I loved Half Moon Bay. Plus, you ladies are so much more organised than the New Yorkers.

Hi all,

I''m working from home today and noticed that as the day progressed I am feeling worse and worse. No symptoms like a sore throat or anything but now have a GIANT cold sore on my face... it occurred to me to check my temp and what do you know... I''ve got a 102.1 degree fever. No clue what this is, if I''m better tomorrow I''ll be there. If I''m not though, as much as I WANT TO BE THERE (I''ve been looking forward to it ALL FREAKING WEEK), I''m not going to be able to make it.

I''ll update AmberG tomorrow morning though.
Aww. Hope you feel better. But take it easy. I know quite a few people who got the sore-throat-fever virus that''s been going around. It didn''t make them really sick but very tired. You need your rest!!

Gypsy - fingers and paws crossed SO HARD that you are better this morning!!

Sorry I wasn''t able to make it. I really wanted to! Hope you all had a fabulous time! I expect a full report and lots of pictures!

Gypsy, hope you''re feeling better!

I wanted an update so I called Beacon in the middle of it all.

LOL!

Heehee. I got to talk to AN too.

Pictures!!!!!

I just have to say "thank you" to everyone who was at the GTG, and especially AmberGretchen for pulling it all together. I had a wonderful time meeting the PS'ers I hadn't met before, oggling the jewelry and other goodies everone brought along, and checking out the incredible jewelry stores around Union Square! And of course, I have to say a very special "thanks" to Harleigh for driving our little carpool of two. Aside from the fact that you got us there and back safely, I really enjoyed the chance to visit during our time on the freeway.

I'm still amazed at the beautiful jewelry we saw at Langs, Tiffany's, DeBeers, Shreve & Co., and Cartier. More to the point, I can't believe the beautiful jewelry I got to actually try on! My Visa card remained safely in my purse, but... there were one or two pieces that were mighty tempting!

Rockzilla: I hope your dress fitting went well! It was so nice of you to fit the GTG into your San Francisco visit, and for your friends to agree to having lunch with a bunch of gem-crazed PS'ers!

Gypsy: Thanks for loading yourself up with Tylenol so you could join us, and please thank John for helping you make it to the GTG. I hope you're starting to feel better!

Art Nouveau, Beacon, AsscherGirl, Swingirl, and Innerkitten: it was so nice to see you all again.... and Violet03 and Flopkins: I enjoyed meeting you both. Connecting faces with screen names with real names is a bit of a challenge for me, but I'm getting there!

Harriet: We missed you, but I know you were there in spirit! AmberGretchen took lots of pictures for you. The weather was beautiful and the sun was shining at our meeting point -- a cafe on Union Square with outdoor seating -- so hopefully there will be a pic or two that really show off our sparklies!

It was a lot of fun talking shop and "window shopping" with women who know and love and can joke about beautiful jewelry. I'm looking forward to the next GTG!

I think I've run through my daily quota of exclamation points so I'd better quit here and let someone else chime in...

Hey, thanks for thinking of me. I look forward to Amber's pics.

And I promise I will try to get them up ASAP.

I really enjoyed seeing/meeting everybody - what a lovely group of ladies!! I'm sorry I had to run out after lunch - I don't get to see Rockzilla very often as she lives pretty far away, and then I realized that I wasn't quite fully recovered from being sick during the week so better go home and rest.

But I'm feeling better today and will try to get all the pics sorted and uploaded ASAP.

It was fun! Wish I''d been able to stay for lunch and meet the other PSers.
:)

The GTG was great fun!

The most interesting store experiences were at Tiffany and DeBeers. I was quite surprised to see unusual signs posted in the counters of the engagement ring area at Tiffany. They had plastic signs, some inside the counters and some on top of the counters, indicating which counters had, "Engagement Rings Under $4500", "Engagement Rings Under $10,000" and "Please inquire about financing opportunities."

Clearly they are trying to make the store appear more affordable and perhaps make it easier for a shopper to find the lower cost rings w/o actually having to ask outright. None the less, I thought the signs, in turquoise plastic, were really not in the best of taste. At least an engraved or calligraphied card would have been more visually attractive!

DeBeers was a super experience. The store has been open in San Francisco since July and as we walked in I was greeted by name by the SA who turned out to be a gal I know who used to work at TIffany. She brought out and introduced her store manager, Jerome, a very friendly (and nice looking!) Englishman who gave us a great tour of the store, explained their philosophy and showed us some stunning gems including a gorgeous cocktail ring featuring four pear shaped fancy color diamonds, one pink, one green, and two of differing shade of yellow. I loved that ring! He gave us all DeBeers catalogs - and I left mine in the restaurant. Boo!

It was great to see the PS ladies and meet some people in person I have long "met" on line. It was also nice to see Flopkins again after such a long time!

We had a table on Union Square out next to the ice rink and trays of loose gems came out along with wedding photos and rings passed round. Now that is a first for me - we were all there under the gaze of the public, right outdoors, but thankfully no one seemed to take much notice of our private gem show on the street in San Francisco.

Look forward to next time ladies!

I had a fantastic time and was so glad to be able to make it to this one after missing the last one. It was great seeing some of you ladies again and definitely meeting new ones!!

I missed the DeBeers portion of the outing because some of us opted to go to Lang''s the antique/estate jewelry store. Gorgeous stuff! Lunch was great too.

Thanks AmberG for putting it together. Can''t wait until the next one!

Thanks for the nice company and the nice words ladies. Pics are here - tons of them, though not *quite* up to my usual standard as I wasn''t feeling 100% well...

Hope you guys enjoy the pics, and looking forward to the next GTG!

Definitely agree that Gypsy deserves a special prize for dragging her poor sick self out of bed to come and see all of us!
