I just received a new 18k white gold ring and without even having worn it properly, I managed to scratch it with my other diamond

. I''m feeling pretty bad about this as I''d like to enjoy the ring in it''s pristine condition for a little white longer, so can someone please let me know what''s the best way to get the scratch out? Is it by replating the ring?

Thanks!

you might need to get it professionally polished, but don''t do it too often, as it does strip away a minute amount of gold each time

It might need to be repolished and maybe replated again.

Get yourself a sunshine cloth. They work great for minor repolishing. If it is more severe, have a jeweler buff it out and replate it.

Thanks D&T, Chrono and ct-appr. Please excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by a sunshine cloth? I think it''s only a surface scratch but I''m annoyed with myself and want to fix it.

Do a search on Google. It is a polishing cloth that can be easily bought online.

Thanks Stone Cold, I''ve ordered one. Let''s hope it helps...
