Hello ladies...

With all the brides here, I''m hoping you can help me out...

We''re renewing our vows this summer in Jamaica...when we got married, my DH wanted "the" wedding while I wanted to elope in Jamaica. We agreed that for an anniversary, we would return to Jamaica and renew our vows the way I wanted to get married.

Anyway, I found a beautiful dress, but I want to try something similar to it in a store before ordering it to see if the style compliments my body type. Anyway here is the dress...does anyone know where I could find something similar to it?

I went into David''s Bridal and they had nothing comparable....any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Oooh, pretty! Can''t help you with finding a similiar one to try on... but that''s a very very pretty dress and perfect for Jamaica!

Thanks! It''s my favorite of all the ones I''ve found so far!!

I want to order it, but I would like to try something similar on first as I have hips and am concerned that they may be too "hippy" for the dress....If I could find a similar style and like it on, then I''ll go forward and buy this dress....

Tiffany...thanks for that! There''s a store not too far from me...I could probably go and check it out!

I found another dress that I think would be wonderful for my body type! I would love some feedback!

Here it is! I would want it in white or ivory...what do you think?

I think that would be really pretty in white or ivory. In fact, I think I like it better than the first one. The back is gorgeous! I can totally see it on a beach.

wow! i really like that one you found that is pictured in black.

in white or ivory, with you on the beach in jamaica- the back is spectacular, and the bottom is perfect for a beach wedding (picture it blowing in the ocean breeze!)

I like the first one better... it was in my "dress file" when I was looking for my wedding dress! I like that it is a little more simple. Perfect for a beach wedding.

i don't really like that 2nd dress at all...maybe it's because it's black but it makes me think of las vegas...hehee. i'm trying to imagine it in ivory.

the first dress's silhouette is just like my wedding dress. simple silk sheath. you mentioned you are hippy, what does that mean? because i have a curvy figure but the dress worked really well on me...i'm 5'7" and my hips are/were about 39ish. the dress was pretty flattering i thought. i don't think i'm 'hippy' but i definitely have some curves. i think that those kinds of dresses can flatter a figure that is proportional.

the weird thing about the first dress is that the back view it looks like the undersilk area is like just flat straight cut off or something under the lace/overlay? it's not angled like the front view...it looks odd?!?!

anyway my dress was a rena koh but it did not have the angled cut overlay or anything, but the beading etc was very smiilar to the first dress...just with a more consistent bottom half.

I found a bridal shop nearby that I can go to that has the same "style" just so I can see if the dress will look good on my body type...if so, then I think I''ve narrowed down my search...

I''m kinda leaning towards #1, but I really like #2 as well....plus I''ve found # 3, 4, 5...LOL! What does everyone think of these??

I like these too:

I have to admit that I''m not crazy about no. 1. For some reason a street length underskirt with a longer, sheer overskirt just doesn''t do much for me...

oh i def like #3 the best i think now out of all of them. #4 is too vegas for me as well. i just don't like all that crazy rhinestone and sparkle patterning esp for a beach wedding. unless it's more subtle in person (which can totally be the case...it's hard to tell).

Mara...I like #3 too, but the back is so low that with my DD chest, I don''t know if I can get a bra that will be low enough to compliment the dress!

Aack! Now I remember why I wanted to elope 12 years ago!

Hmm, with those sheath-y dresses it's hard to tell if anyone one in particular will fit without trying it, they're all a little different.

For something similar maybe you should check out Amy Michelson here; she does similar beachy stuff, and there are a few samples for sale at Glenn & Co. here.

ETA: Maybe this is close?

Ooh...mercoledi!! I like the one from Newport News! Thanks!!

I think what I''m going to do is go to a local bridal store this week or weekend which carry many of these destination-type weddings and see if they even look any good on me. If not, then I can look for some alternatives, but if they do, then looking at one like you posted will be a benefit!!!

I just found this dress and would LOVE some feedback about what you think...I know the cut of the top would look cute on me (I''ve had dresses with this cut before), but what about the style for a beach wedding?

I love that last one, but I especially LOVE #3!

i think your new find looks ''light'' enough for the beach. if you know that style of top looks good, then it definitely has to be a strong contender. i think it is very pretty.

That''s Gorgeous!!!

As long as you don''t mind a train, I say go for it! I love the neckline, it''s a very flattering cut, and I just adore how the skirt has that soft gauzy overlayer with lace!

I have to agree, the new one is stunning! If it''s what you want, I say go for it.
Great find!

Hello everyone! Well, wanted to update everyone as well as feedback.

I went to Alfred Angelos and tried on this dress:

It fit me perfectly! Then I did the research on the internet and found netbride.com, who quoted me 1/2 the retail price...so I''m on a roll! Haven''t ordered the dress yet. I want to go to one store more just to confirm this is the dress!

Anyway, then I started thinking about shoes. Since we''re getting married on the beach, it seems thongs are the only thing that I could wear at the waterline. but thongs don''t seem right to me...so now I''m thinking about this:

What do you think??? I would love feedback! Thanks!!

Can you link the foot decor? It looks fabulous.

What anniversary is this?

I LOVE the last one you chose. It will not drag on the sand and it is sooo pretty.

I like the foot things, or I would try to find some jeweled thongs, so you do not get your feet dirty. (I assume what you posted are those jewels that go on your foot, but I do not think there is a bottom...)

Where are you staying in Jamaica?

Julie...Here''s the link for the footwear:

diamondfan...this is our 12th anniversary. We''re going to Couples Negril. We''ve been there twice before and love Jamaica! These foot things wrap around your ankle and connect to your toe, so no, there''s no soles to this "footwear." I don''t know if I actually want shoes as we''ll be getting married at the waterline. Wet shoes don''t do much for me. Hmmmm.

I''ll need white sandals though for the dinner that night, that''s for sure!

Sounds amazing. As long as the soles of your feet will not get really dirty, I think it is a great look. What a great idea to do this....do you have kids? Are they coming with you?

No...no kids. What happened was when we got married 12 years ago, my DH wanted the "big affair," and I wanted to elope. His wishes won out with the agreement that we could renew our vows on day in the fashion that I wanted to get married. Well, this summer, my wish will be fulfilled!

My parents and some friends know we''re doing this, but I don''t know if anyone will be accompanying us or not....I don''t have a preference one way or another. Just so I''m in Jamaica with my husband renewing our vows for one another....

Maybe I''ll even bring the original vows from 12 years ago...I still have them written out.

I am glad you are finally getting your wish!

Absolutely bring your vows...I think it would be incredible to have them with you after 12 years...

Have FUN! How could you not?!

I LOVE the dress and the foot jewelry is so lovely and exotic! Perfect for a tropical beach wedding!

hmm, you may want to consider getting something with soles. I was a BM at a beach wedding in San Francisco. All the BMs agreed to go barefoot, but we were burning our bare feet on the hot sand and wishing for shoes.
