Dear all,

I would like to begin a project to replicate the Tiffanys Victoria Pendant, and have lots of questions, so hoping I could get some good ideas to get this project started.

1. I tried on the real pendant at the store in the largest size, which was .81ctw, and felt that the necklace wasn't big enough for me. Would moving up to the 1 ctw make any difference visually? I have spoken to Whiteflash, and that is the biggest that they could do. Are there any other vendors which people could recommend for this job? Anything that I need to specifically request to make this replication as similar as possible?

2. I had thought that it would be pretty straightforward to copy the design, until I read the thread below:

It seems like the devil is in the detail, and it might be hard finding 4 marquise diamonds which match pretty well. Tiffanys diamonds are cut in their own factory, so they rarely have problems with bowtie. In addition, the outer point of the diamond tip up, like petals of a flower opening, and it seems hard to get this angle exactly right. There are other fine details which I am probably forgetting, but I do not have a good eye for such things. All in all - how close can I get to having a replica made, and it is better just to buy the real item from the store?

Any help would be great.

Thank you!! :)

Costco has a replica!

Purchased mine from @Yekutiel - it's beautiful and the workmanship is very well done.

HI:

Yes, the angle is they key. My earring appear to "pop out" on my ears.

cheers--Sharon

BGD custom made a bracelet for me!

You can speak to Lesley at BGD, she did a custom pendant for me that is similar to a big companies piecebriangavin_bezels_waltena1_061614.jpg

Fashionphile currently has the small one listed if you don’t mind preloved.

While you are there, they also have Victoria line bracelet to match.

Thank you, everyone!

I actually wouldn't mind purchasing the original Tiffany's pendant, but the largest one they have is .81ctw, and I felt that was a bit small for my tastes, so thought I could have one made which is bigger, and also works out to be less costly as well. :)

Queenie60, your necklace is beautiful - how close to the original one do you think it looks?

I also know absolutely nothing about marquise diamonds as well - how difficult would it be to find 4 in the size category that I need to match really well?

Are there any other considerations I need to look into? Is there a way to make sure that the pendant doesn't flip, or slide up and down on the chain?

Many thanks, again!

I have spoken to Whiteflash and Brian Gavin.

If the pendant is 1ctw, then we can use melee diamonds instead of certified stones. However, if I wanted to go bigger than 1 ctw, we would need to search for 4 certified stones which match, and that would require getting them from different vendors and bringing them in for inspection, and trying to find 4 which match.

I had initially wanted to go bigger than the pendant I tried at the store, which was .81 ctw. Would there be a visual difference between .81ctw and 1ctw? And is there a visual difference between melee vs certified stones?

Thanks, all.

I’ve had a pair of earrings made based off the old Tiffany Victoria style - whilst I’m sure the difference would be noticeable if they were side by side with the original, I’m really happy with how they turned out! It can definitely be done with a trusted bench (which I can see you’ve recruited already) - good luck!

This is a pair of Tiffany Victoria earrings inspired made from 18k with 4 marquise stone in the similar but not exact setting with marquise pointing upward giving illusion of floating on your ear. I purchased it from a brick and mortar store in California 8 years ago. So yes it can be done. Sorry for dirty stones. 7439FA21-0D6D-4C3A-A998-C3E043278FA7.jpeg40938D98-128F-44F6-91AF-FDACC31FA37A.jpeg

Wow, so beautiful, thank you for the pictures! :)

Hi all,

I have spoken to WhiteFlash and IDJ about this project, and am trying to decide between the below:

1. I tried on the pendant at Tiffany's in their largest size (.81ctw) and felt it was a bit too small. Both vendors can do a replica in 1ctw, using melee diamonds. This would be quite easy to match up and source.
2. WhiteFlash said that if I want to go larger than 1 ctw, I would have to have this custom made. They would have to use certified stones and find 4 mq diamonds which match very well, which may not be easy, as these stones are located all across the US amongst different vendors, and I would have to pay to get each of them called in so they can video and inspect.
3. IDJ also said a similar thing, that they can use melee diamonds for up to 1 ctw, and anything bigger would have to be certified diamonds. They seem to feel very confident that they will be able to find 4 mq which match up, and suggested I look into getting 1.2ctw (.30 pointers each) or 1.4ctw (.35 points each). I get the sense that IDJ will just try to pick 4 which match well, whereas WF will inspect, image, and video the stones for me.
4. Which option would you choose? To have the project done with melee or certified stones? Would it be eye visible if there was an increase from .81 to 1ctw?
5. If you were to go the certified stone route, would you choose to have the pendant in 1.2ctw or 1.4ctw? It's hard for me to visualize, I love big diamonds, but wondering if the latter might be a tad too big?
6. Attached a pic of an unpolished earring IDJ is currently working on for someone, which is 1ctw and a replica of the Victoria - thoughts?

Many thanks!!

I think you need to decide first how big you want to go. Because that will decide if they will be melee or certified. I suggest looking at the dimension of marquise stone to decide how much total carat you want to go. Check out this table below.

Thank you. I am wondering how hard it would be to find 4 mqs which match, if I choose not to go down the melee route?

It shouldn’t be that hard and it has been done if you’re not in a hurry.

The process is the same. The vendor has to choose 4 stones that match well regardless of whether they are certified or not. I think in this case, it might be easier for IDJ to do this since they are in NYC and can easily access the diamonds there. Plus you can see that they have made this design many times. I think this last photo looks good. I am sure they'd provide you with photos of the stones for your approval, so be sure you specify that. I think the 1.2 ctw or 1.4 ctw sounds good to me. I'd just want the 4 stones to be almost exactly the same dimensions. I'd do F color and VS, personally.

Thanks, Diamond!!!

I love my bling, but wonder if 1.4ctw would be a tad too big. Which option would you choose?

And trying to decide between a 16 or 18 inch chain - any thoughts?

Some more pics of ones that ID are working on for other clients, the one shown as a necklace is 1ctw, by the way. They look beautiful to me, but I have a bad eye for these types of things..

Thanks, Queenie! I would like to get mine made by ID as well - can you tell me if you made any requests to have this pendant made, and does it flip at all? I have asked for pricescope quality stones, certified, F/VS, and matching in regards to dimension.
